Bill and Will Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Left click or tap anywhere to load the welcome screen.
  • On the welcome screen:
    • Select the play button at the center to begin.
    • Select the speaker button on the top right corner to turn the game’s sounds on or off.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress and star ratings.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your mouse, left click and drag to aim and charge the cannon. Release to fire.
    • You can also use the up and down arrows on the cannon’s rail before aiming to have the cannon shoot from a higher or lower position.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers, tap, hold, and swipe to aim and charge the cannon. Release to fire.
    • Once again, you can press the arrows on the cannon’s rail to adjust its vertical position before firing.
  • Controls and indicators (top row, left to right):
    • Level number
    • Star rating indicator
    • Home button: Quits the game and returns you to the welcome screen
    • Reset button
    • Speaker button
    • The level select screen shows which levels have been unlocked & the star rating earned on each level.
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Fire the cannon to push either Will or Bill toward their respective candies (or vice versa).
      • The candies are color coded and match the character they’re meant for. Will eats the green candy while Bill eats the red one.
      • When Bill or Will have eaten their candies, the level is cleared.
      • You can also use the cannon to push pieces of wood to create paths for the candies or Bill and Will.
    • If you want to start over, select the reset button.
      • This is useful if you cannot find a way to bring the candy to the target character.
      • You can also reset if you want to earn a higher star rating for the level.
    • You get star ratings based on how many shots it takes you to finish.
      • Your star rating will decrease the more shots you make.
      • The highest star rating is 3.
  • Levels
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
      • You start with only one level unlocked.
      • Finish one level to unlock another.
    • There are 36 levels in the game.
      • You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
      • Replay the levels to improve your previous star rating.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You lose a level if either character or cream candy falls off platform.
      • You can also misposition characters or candies, making the level impossible to beat.
  • Level features
    • Boards – there are 3 different types of boards on the level
      • nailed at both ends – stationary
      • nailed at one end – can swing to knock out of the way, create a ramp, or to hit like a hammer
      • nailed at neither end – can be hit to get knocked across the level with no anchor point
    • Boxes – these can be pushed by getting shot by a cannonball
    • Wooden balls – these are larger and slower, but can roll just like Bill, Will, and the candies.
    • Springs – cannonballs, candies, characters, and wooden balls can bounce off them.
  • Tips
    • Star ratings
      • Some stages of this game are exceptionally difficult to beat with a high star rating.
      • If you beat a level with a low star rating proceed to other levels in the game, then come back to replay levels with a low star rating after completing the game.
      • If you already have a zero star rating and are about to lose the level from losing a piece of candy or one of the players you can rapidly fire the cannon to provide more momentum.
      • If you are aiming for a high star rating & make an error early in a stage feel free to restart the level again & only play deep into a stage when you get off to a good start.
    • Candy vs characters
      • On some stages you need to hit the candies into the characters, whereas on other levels you need to hit the characters into the candy.
      • When you hit the candies into the characters typically (though not always) the character does not move beyond adopting the larger size.
      • When you hit the characters into the candies they typically continue to move.
    • Shot angle
      • On many levels the starting vertical position on the track is good enough to make a decent shot, but on most stages to get optimal performance you’ll need to move the cannon vertically multiple times.
      • If you need to push something horizontally you want the cannon to be close to parallel with the target.
      • If you want to give something some loft it is best to shoot from below to get under the target and provide some lift.
      • In some cases you need to change vertical height to shoot around an obstacle or to have a better shot angle to arc over an obstacle.
    • Operational order
      • The order you do things in matters greatly.
      • If you do the candies in the wrong order you can end up causing one candy to block the other.
      • In some cases you have to hit one colored candy into a position, make the other colored pair up, then complete the pair of the first order.
      • When you pair a player with a candy the pairing causes a size change which can block a path, enable a path to roll across, or push a movable platform at an angle to drive a further chain reaction of movements.
    • Obstacles and opportunities
      • Some items in the game are both obstacles and opportunities.
      • You may need to push a plank out of the way in order to open up a pathway.
      • You may need to make one candy connection before the other so that the connection can make a pathway for the second candy, or so that you can push a plank over it so that you open the pathway for the other candy.
