• Starting the Game

    • The game’s controls and indicators appear on the top row. From left to right, they are as follows:

• Game Play
  • Levels
    • Levels are unlocked in sequence:
      • Only the first level is playable at the start of the game.
      • Finish one level to unlock the next.
    • There are 12 levels in this game.
    • You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
  • Basic rules
    • Press the space bar or tap anywhere on the screen to begin.
    • Move the paddle to keep the ball in play.
    • Break all the blocks on the top half of the screen to clear the level.
  • Lives
    • You begin with 3 lives.
      • These are represented by hearts on the top center of the screen.
      • You always start a new level with 3 lives even if you lose them in the previous one.
    • Each time you fail to keep the ball in play, you lose a life.
    • Lose all your lives and you fail the level.
  • Scoring
    • You earn 10 points each time the ball hits a block.
    • Your score is cumulative across the number of times you played a level.
      • You don’t lose the points you’ve earned from a level you lost.
      • Replaying levels adds to your score.
  • Block strengths
    • Wooden blocks are destroyed after one hit.
    • Brick blocks turn into wooden blocks after one hit, and are destroyed after another.
    • Concrete blocks turn into brick blocks, which turn into wooden blocks.
  • Power ups
    • Power ups appear as colored stars that fall down from the bricks.
    • Each power up has a different effect:
      • Red power ups give your ball the ability to burn through several blocks at once.
      • Yellow powerups lengthen your paddle. This carries over to other levels.
