- Game Play
- Cyborg types
- The game has 3 different base types of cyborgs you’ll encounter on the first 14 stages.
- Magenta – stationary & shoots 3 shots in a row at a regular interval.
- Time your attack for right after it’s third shot is made, then jump if needed to avoid the next round of shots before finishing them off.
- Green – runs back and forth on a fixed set path & shoots periodically while facing you.
- Attack it when it is not facing you whenever possible.
- Brown – shoots a spreadshot with 3 bullets.
- Control your distance and timing to avoid getting hit, being willing to hit once or twice from afar and then repeat the process.
- Defeating cyborgs
- You can destroy any of the cyborgs by shooting them 4 or 5 times.
- Blowing up an explosive barrel which is near them will also destroy them.
- When fighting cyborgs sometimes you have to skip past them and come back to them to have the optimal angle on them.
- Try not to attack a cyborg while hanging from a rope unless you are sure you will not get hit as getting hit while hanging from a rope causes you to fall off the rope.
- Boss battle
- The Cyborg Skull boss takes perhaps over 100 shots to kill with a power bar which spans nearly the full width of the screen.
- The boss has a variety of attack types, which are indicated by its eye color before the attack. Each attack lasts for a period of time & then either the boss goes into the next attack sequence of another type or disappears temporarily before coming back.
- Amber – this attack has the boss shoot in a clockwise or counterclockwise pattern where it is virtually impossible to avoid getting hit unless you are fast.
- Climb up the vines and move toward the skull in the center.
- When you are just beyond the fire drop down, then climb back up on the side you were just on and repeat the process twice more. Your direction of travel should be the same direction the boss is traveling with their shots.
- Climbing across the climbs is too slow, so you always want to use jumps to initiate your horizontal moves on this part of the game.
- It is best mostly to play defensively during the amber attack.
- Green – this brings in a storm of shots from one side of the screen which then move horizontally across the screen.
- Hang on the top vine near the skulls head, keep shooting, and only jump upward when one of the green shots is about to hit you.
- You can do a lot of damage during the green attack.
- Red – the boss shoots out a wave of fire where all shots appear at once.
- This can be avoided if you are low on the screen and toward an outer edge, where you can move in or out while also jumping up another platform, though it can be hard to not accidentally get hit at least once over the course of a half dozen or so attacks.
- The shots tend to fan outward & then turn a bit clockwise near the tail end of their path.
- Being further away from the shot gives you more time to react to it, though you have to remember the tail spin near the end of the shot path.
- Blue – shoots a single shot directly at you.
- Hang from the vine one below the top & slightly to the outer edge of the top vine.
- Keep shooting the boss.
- Jump whenever a shot is near you, though do not jump inward and catch the top vine so that you can keep a consistent pattern and are not surprised by a change in your plane.
- You’ll need to jump every other shot.
- You can do a lot of damage during the blue attack.
- Periodically the boss disappears, and 3 green cyborgs enter the screen. 2 cyborgs head right and 1 heads left.
- If you are on the left side of the screen you can stand on the lower left platform above the cyborg then jump down and shoot it after it is past you.
- If you are on the right side you jump over the cyborg which is by itself while it is walking under you toward the end of the screen and then rapidly shoot it before it turns around.
- You can do the same thing for the second and third cyborgs on subsequent passes.
- Given how limited your healthbar is you should never get hit by a green soldier on the final level.
- The Cyborg Skull reappears shortly after you defeat all 3 green cyborgs. When killing the final green cyborg race toward the rope one level below the top of the screen so you can shoot the boss as soon as it appears.
- Levels
- This game has 15 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
- You can go back and replay any beat level at any point in time.
- You beat a level while having some health remaining while moving to the far right of the screen.
- If you fall off platform or run out of health you start the same level again from the beginning.
- You score points by shooting enemies and explosive barrels.
- You can collect coins scattered throughout the levels though they can’t be used to buy anything.
- Even if you die you still retain the points and coins earned on that play.
- Target Audience
- The game is suited for players who like video games inspired by the classic hit Contra series.
- Players have a gun in this game, which they must shoot to destroy cyborg types.
- Other than the above the game has no adult themed content.
