- Game Play
- Basics
- In this game you strategically place wizard kittens to fire upon slime.
- Each slime you destroy is worth currency which can be used to buy more kittens.
- Your goal is to allow few or no slime to make their way to the end of the level.
- Cats
- Cat types
- Cats are available at various price points on each level, with a subset of the overall cat collection available on any level.
- In most cases you usually want to place the most expensive cat you can afford.
- Some cats can hit in any direction 1 square (including diagonally) while some cats have more horizontal or vertical reach.
- Cats you can afford are shown in a darker color, whereas cats you can not afford have more of a translucent appearance.
- Laying towers
- When you go to play a cat on the board the ground will turn green.
- If you can place it on a square & it will show the range of that tower.
- If a square turns red when you try to lay a cat there it means you can not install a cat tower on that square.
- In this game you do not install towers on the paths, but adjacent to the paths. In many cases you can not lay a cat next to a structure without there being at least 1 open tile between the cat and the structure.
- Most tower defense games allow you to pick up towers which are laid incorrectly and move them or at least sell them for a portion of their purchase price. This game does not, so where you place towers initially is of vital importance.
- Artificial intelligence
- In many tower defense games the towers are programmed to target the enemies which have the least remaining energy or the enemies which are closest to the finish of the level.
- In this game the AI is more than a bit frustrating, as the cat often aims at whichever enemy in range has the most remaining health.
- This can mean that many enemies that only needed one more hit to destroy make it through the level.
- This costs you 3 different ways: it reduces your health, your star rating, and your income needed to buy more cats.
- Levels
- This game has 18 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
- You can replay previously beat levels any point in time to try to earn a better rating on them.
- Winning vs losing
- You win a level if you still have health remaining in your health bar after all waves have completed.
- You lose if you run out of health.
- You can restart any level you fail as this game offers unlimited continues.
- Scoring
- You can score up to 3 stars on each level depending upon how much of your health bar remains when you beat a level.
- Each slime that makes it to the level exit depletes some of your health, with some more powerful slimes eating a lot of your health (even if the powerful slime had little health remaining itself when it exited).
- Strategy
- Cat choice
- In most cases you want to lay the most expensive cat you can afford, as the more expensive cats do more damage per hit & often have greater range.
- Sometimes you have to hold off for the last second to defeat enough slimes to afford a better cat that can do more damage.
- Cat tower locations
- Your first cat should be laid somewhat near the start of the level so that as it destroys slimes in the second or third wave the income earned can be used to place cats closer to the end of the level to destroy any slimes which got past the first tower.
- Place cats far enough into the level that they can hit the furthest along enemies and destroy the slime before it reaches the end of the level.
- When placing cats near pathways it is great to lay them in positions where all slimes will pass by them. If slimes pass by them twice that is a bonus as you can do even more damage.
- Try to place cats in positions where they do not have bridges blocking their shot path, or where the bridges are near the back end of their range. If slime is under bridge you may still shoot at it but can not hit it & if this happens frequently early in your shot path you will waste a lot of your firepower.
- Target Audience
- The game is suited for players who like cats or tower defense games.
- The game has no adult themed content.
