Checkers Legend One or Two Player Checkers Game for Kids Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Select the orange PLAY button on the welcome screen to start the game.
    • This will bring up the play mode menu.
    • On the play mode menu you can choose to play against a friend on your local computer or play against a hard, medium, or easy computer opponent.
  • The welcome button also has 3 other buttons: rules, options & instructions.
    • Rules – allows you to set the game rules. settings include:
      • Man can capture backwards (on or off)
      • Capture – choose between
        • Mandatory – but can choose any
        • Mandatory – max number of men
        • Not mandatory
      • Kings – choose between
        • No flying Kings (Checkers)
        • Flying Kings
        • Flying Kings, but stop directly after capture
      • King capture priority (on or off)
    • Options
      • Choose to play as black or white, set the stone skin (5 different options) & set the board skin (6 different options).
      • You can also turn hints, music, and sounds on or off.
    • Instructions – move your stone diagonally forward and capture opponent stones by jumping over them. It is a very well-known and simple board game for two players, so you can find the rules anywhere. There are more variants how to play this game, so we provided options to set additional rules the way you like – for example whether men can capture backwards, how far kings can move, or if available captures are mandatory moves.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Play on the default mode or adjust the rules to the game type you want to play & the options to the design you wan to play.
    • Pieces which you can move are highlighted in a bouncing animation.
    • Left click on a piece to select it. That will change the color of the piece and the squares it can move to will show piece highlights on them.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap the screen with your finger to use it like a mouse.
  • Control buttons
    • The bottom of the game has three blue buttons. The first button undoes moves, the second button restarts the level & the third button returns you back to the options menu.
• Game Play
  • In general you want to open up the center of the board to give yourself many move options & you are not forced to make a move you do not want to.
    • Try to keep your pieces in a triangular formation where they protect one another.
    • Pieces which are in the back row or the sides of the board are hard to take unless your opponent forces you to move because they can’t jump over them to a cell which does not exist.
    • In some cases you can use a piece in a sacrificial way to make your opponent move a piece into position to allow you to double jump their pieces.
    • When making moves anticipate enemy responses so you do not accidentally set up a combo move for your opponent.
  • Try to get a king as early as you can in the game without allowing your opponent to do the same.
    • A King allows you to make idle moves back and forth while forcing the opponent to make moves even if they do not have a good move to make.
    • Obtaining Kings also allows you to pick off opposing forces from behind their front lines without them being able to do anything in response.
