How to Play
Group the numbers so that they form the operands in the equations shown in the boxes. No number should appear more than once in a row, column, or box.
- Starting the Game
- On the welcome screen, select the size of the grid to start the game:
- 4 x 4 (16 squares)
- 5 x 5 (25 squares)
- 6 x 6 (36 squares)
- 8 x 8 (64 squares)
- Select the drop down menu on the bottom left corner to choose the game’s language:

- With your mouse
- Left click on a cell to select it.
- Left click on a number from the number pad to place a “candidate” answer.
- Left click on one of the candidate numbers on the cell again to place in your final answer.
- With your keyboard
- Use any of the number keys on your keyboard to place a candidate answer.
- Press the same number key twice to lock in your final answer
- Use the delete or backspace keys to erase your answer.

- Tap on any number on the number pad once to place it in as a candidate answer.

- Controls & indicators
- The game’s indicators are located on the left side of the screen. From the top, these are as follows:
- The number pad

- The first row of buttons, from left to right:
- Pause button: Momentarily stop the game’s timer.
- Reset button: Returns everything to the way it was when you began.
- Query button: Checks if your answers are correct.
- The second row of buttons, form left to right:
- Music button: Toggle the game’s music.
- Sound effects button: Toggle the game’s audio cues.
- Enlarge button: Switch between windowed and full screen modes
- Game Play
- Generating puzzles
- The game generates a different puzzle for every day of the year.
- This amounts to between 365 to 366 different puzzles for each type of grid.
- You can play a different puzzle by selecting a different date on the calendar.
- Alternately, you can select next after winning a round.
- Basic rules
- The available numbers are based on the size of the grid. A 4 x 4 grid will have the numbers 1 through 4, for instance, and so on.
- Each number must appear once in every row and column.
- Each square has blobs (irregular boxes) that hold a result and a mathematical operator).
- Each number placed in the blob must be an operand to the equation that equals the indicated result
- For instance, if a blob comprising 2 squares says 7+, one possible answer is 4 and 3.
- Operand numbers don’t need to be in order for division and subtraction.
- A blob comprising a single block will be its own result.
- Placement
- You can place “candidate” answers through the number pad or your keyboard.
- Once you’re content with your final answer, select the number again.
- You can check your answers by selecting the query button.
- If you have no wrong answers, it will indicate it onscreen.
- It will only detect final answers. Candidate answers will not be counted among your errors.
- If you have wrong answers, the cells they’re in will be marked with a red x.
- There is no penalty for using the query button.
