How to Play

This is a platforming game where you explore the scientific method.

  • Starting the Game
    • Select the NEW GAME button in the center of the welcome screen to start the game.
    • The lower left corner of the welcome screen has buttons for sound and music controls.
  • Game Controls
    • Desktop
      • Press the A key or the left arrow key to move left.
      • Press the D key or the right arrow key to move right.
      • Press the W key, the up arrow key, or the spacebar to jump.
        • Press any of the above twice to double jump.
        • You can press twice consecutively, or press once, and then wait a while before pressing again.
      • Use your mouse left click button to select correct answers & scroll through information pages.
    • Mobile
      • This game was designed primarily for play on desktop devices.
  • Game Play
    • Basics
      • Collect the leaves and stomp on the monsters to score points.
      • Avoid running into the sides of monsters or you will lose health.
      • If you lose all of your health you will have to restart at the nearest checkpoint you have passed.
    • Steps
      • Question – something we ask after experiencing a strange phenomenon.
      • Hypothesis – an educated guess about the answer to the question we asked.
      • Experiment – plan and conduct a rigorous test of our hypothesis.
      • Analysis – an evaluation of the empirical evidence collected in the experiment.
      • Conclusion – a summary that compares the hypothesis with the analysis of the actual results of the experiment.
    • Definitions
      • Dependent variable – what is measured by the scientist to track the results of an experiment.
      • Independent variable – the singular variable a scientist changes in an experiment.
      • Phenomenon – anything that we experience that leads us to ask questions.
      • Qualitative data – things that can be described using our 5 senses (taste, touch, smell, sight, or sound) but not measured precisely.
      • Quantitative data – things that can be obtained by counting or measuring precisely.
