Dot Adventure Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Press the play button in the center of the game loading screen to bring up the welcome screen.
  • Press the play button in the lower center of the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including beat levels & level ratings.
  • The upper right corner of the welcome screen has a sound control button. Left of the play button is a developer information button, while there is a more games button right of the play button.

    • Move left using the left arrow key.
    • Move right using the right arrow key.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Use the on-screen controls.
      • The move left button is in the lower left corner of the screen.
      • The move right button is in the lower right corner of the screen.

    • The upper left corner shows the current level number.
    • The upper right corner has buttons for restarting the level, pausing the game, and controlling game sound.
    • The level select screen shows which levels you have unlocked and your star rating on each level.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • This is a level escape game where you play as a bouncing ball. The ball automatically bounces, but you control its horizontal movement & then the vertical movement is controlled by anything it runs into.
    • The goal of the game is to make it to the exit safely while collecting as many stars as you can.
  • Levels
    • This game has 18 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You win by safely getting the ball to the yellow exit box.
      • You lose if you run into any pink spikes, or the left or right edge of the screen.
      • This game offers unlimited continues & you automatically restart the current level if you lose on it.
  • Star ratings
    • Your star rating is based on how many stars your ball runs into before reaching the exit.
    • You can score up to 3 stars on each level, for a total of 54 stars in the game.
    • You can replay previously beat levels to try to earn a higher star rating on them. Your new rating will only replace the old if the new rating is higher.
  • Level obstacles & features
    • Pink spikes – you die if you run into any of them. In some later levels some pink spiked platforms move.
    • Blue platforms – stationary platforms you can bounce on.
    • Striped blue platforms – you can bounce on them once & then they disappear.
    • Key & lock – you have to collect the key to pass through the area where there is a platform blocking passage.
    • Stars – each level has 3 stars on it which you can collect. You can beat a level without collecting all the stars.
    • Yellow arrows – when you jump on these they give you extra high bounce.
    • Exit – land your ball in the yellow exit box to beat a level.
  • Tips
    • If you are struggling to get all the stars on a particular level you can consider beating it without getting all the stars and then coming back to it after playing through other levels.
      • Some stars can only be reached from one direction, or require rapid direction shifts after collecting them.
      • In some cases it helps to move onto platforms or yellow bouncing arrows with horizontal momentum to enable you to capture hard to reach stars.
    • When you are moving across dashed platforms sometimes it makes sense to skip a platform to leave one for the path back in the other direction.
    • If the yellow arrow does not bounce you into a hazard sometimes it can make sense to bounce on them a couple times before progressing to get your jump timing down.
