- Game Strategy
- Kicking strategy
- Each team has 5 players.
- You do not need to kick using the player closest to the ball. Instead you can kick using the player which gives you the best angle, or field position, or puts your competitor in a disadvantageous position by forcing them to foul you to try to get to the ball.
- Game length
- Matches last a total of 2 minutes.
- Overtime
- If the score is tied there is a single overtime which lasts one minute.
- Even if you score in overtime the overtime still continues until the one minute period has ended.
- If the score is tied at the end of overtime the match is a draw and you continue onto the next match.
- At the start of the game & the start of overtime you go first.
- Whenever a team scores a goal the opposing team kicks off.
- While the computer is generally terrible at the game, they are quite good at scoring in the kick off drive after you score, so the games often end in ties.
- Working the clock
- Each time you shoot you get to shoot up to 3 times.
- Your turn ends when you have shot 3 times, scored a goal, or fouled an enemy by hitting them before the ball.
- There clock keeps ticking even if there is no action, so if you have the lead you can hold (or HODL in cryptocurrency terms!) and let the clock run out for up to 10 seconds between each kick.
- If you hold the ball longer than 10 seconds it is a penalty and the other team receives the ball.
- With 3 kicks per turn, this means you can spend over a quarter of the game per turn if you are trying to eat the clock.
- Working the opponent
- The AI on this game is bad at second order thinking.
- It does not think of how to first position the player then second take a nice shot. Instead it just tries to hit the ball, even if the angle is horrible. And while you can bounce the ball and your body off the edges of the playing field, the computer usually goes for a direct shot, even if it is bad.
- The AI usually opts not to use the goalie unless the ball is right next to him, even if it means using a defenseman which might knock the ball into the goal.
- It is quite easy to position yourself between the defenseman and the ball to cause them to foul.
- If you know you will not be able to make a solid shot on goal with a shot left you can instead try to position the ball so the opposing team can not do anything with it.
- You can kick the ball into one of their corners behind all their players, or you can simply position your player between the opponent and the ball so that when they try to hit the ball they hit you, foul, and it is your turn again.
- Hitting a player on the opposing team is a foul and the ball automatically goes to the opposing team.
- You can bump into a player on an opposing team provided you have hit the ball first.
- You can also use the ball to knock the opposing team out of the way, and you can bump into one of your team members to have them bump the opponent without losing your turn.
- Scoring
- In some soccer games the goalie is almost super human to where if they get near a ball the ball is dead & then heading in the other direction. This game is not like that. The goalie is just another figurine on the field.
- The game has two separate scores. One for how many goals and wins you have & then another total point system which carries over from level to level. Points are scored as follows:
- touch ball: 10 points
- goal scored: 60 points
- opposing team scores: -40 points
- foul: -20 points
- win: 100 points
- tie: 50 points
- I the game as long as you tie or win you keep playing. You can play a total of 4 rounds before the game ends. Even if you tie all 4 matches the game gives you a cup.
- Target Audience
- This game is simple and easy to play, making it a fun game for players of all ages.
- There are no adult themes in this game.
