- Game Play
- Enemies
- Most enemies shoot straight at you, while some shoot at an angle or shoot heat seeking rockets.
- It is vital to destroy the heat seeking rockets and to kill the enemies which shoot heat seeking rockets as those will keep hitting you.
- You lose a small amount energy running into competing ships & do not have to kill all ships. You lose much more energy if you get hit by a rocket or a heat seeking missile.
- Shooting
- You get unlimited shots, so it makes sense to constantly fire.
- Most enemies take at least 2 or 3 hits to kill.
- Some enemies which shoot straight shoot from the bottom part of their ship, so it makes sense to engage them from the top if you do not have triple shot activated.
- When you are in the warning rocket section of each level keep firing rapidly while moving slightly up and down & if it looks like a rocket is aligned with you quickly evade in the direction of the screen where you have more space to evade to.
- Power Ups
- The game has batteries you can pick up which restore your energy. Be sure to collect them if you do not have full energy.
- As you collect tokens it shifts from one power up to the next, but you have to press the X key to enable it.
- All power ups last until the end of the level or until you die, unless stated otherwise.
- Below is a description of the power ups available in this game, going from left to right across the bottom of the screen.
- Triple Shot – shoots 3 shots with the middle shot straight and the other two shots moving up or down at around 15 degrees.
- Drone Shot – shoots 3 shots which all move directly forward.
- Laser Special – shoots a high-power laser beam for 4 seconds. When it finishes firing you go back to your regular gun.
- Missile Shot – fires a linear missile with higher damage power. It kills most enemies (other than end bosses) in a single shot.
- Shield – reduces your gun to the regular shot but creates a protective shield around you for 75 seconds.
- Regular Level Strategy
- On the regular level & even the boss battles I like to use triple shot because it allows you to shoot enemies without being required to be on the same vertical plane as they are.
- You get an unlimited number of bullets, so it makes sense to keep tapping the fire button while slowly moving up and down even if there are no enemies in the screen.
- For the rocket portion of each stage
- Boss Battle Strategy
- There are bosses at the ends of level 4 and level 8.
- If you die in a boss battle you start at the begging of that level with the boss going back to full power, so it is important to get to the bosses with nearly full power.
- You lose your power up status and weapon at the end of each level no matter what, so if you and the boss have low life and your power up is set to laser special it can make sense to activate that to do a bunch of damage to the boss rapidly.
- On the first boss the name of the game is to just avoid getting hit and keep moving up and down while rapidly firing knowing some of your shots will hit him.
- On the final boss I like to take out the heat seeking missile shooter at the top of the screen first as that will hit you no matter where you are & it is hard to avoid that while not getting hit.
- When completing the final boss don’t forget you can also move forward and backward to mess up its shot angle aim & evade shots.
- Another option you can consider on the boss battles is activating the shield right away and being rather aggressive offensively, but I had not tried that yet.
- Dying
- You start this game with 3 lives at rest or 4 lives total. The lives count at the top left is the lives remaining beyond the current life.
- Whenever you die you start at the beginning of the level you were on.
- Target Audience
- People who like 2D side scroll shooting games should enjoy this game.
- There are no adult themes in this game.
