Hidden Library Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
  • Select Help to open the tutorial screen.
  • Select High Scores to view the game’s leaderboard.
  • Pick a language from the drop down list on the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
    • Each time you reload the game, it gives you two options. You can resume from where you last left off or you can start from the beginning.
    • Once you finish playing all the levels (or fail to finish one), you can add your final score to the leaderboard.

    • With your mouse:
      • Left click to identify an object
      • Left click and hold to zoom in or out.
      • Left click, hold, and drag to move while zoomed in.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers:
      • Tap on an item to find it.
      • Pinch to zoom in or out.
      • Tap and swipe to move around while zoomed in.
  • Controls and indicators
    • The game’s controls and indicators occupy the right side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
      • Top right corner buttons:
        • Speaker button: This lets you control the game’s audio effects.
        • Music button: This lets you control the game’s music.

      • Pause button: This lets you pause the game.

      • Hint button and counter: This lets you use hints and shows the number of hints you have left.
• Game Play
  • Levels
    • You automatically begin with the first level.
    • The only way to move to the next level is by finishing the one you’re currently playing
    • The game ends when you finish all 3 levels in the game or if you run out of turns.
    • Once you finish the game, you can choose to save your final score on the leaderboard.
  • Basic rules and strategy.
    • You have a limited number of turns to search for items.
      • You get a fresh set of turns each time you finish one category.
      • Because of this, it’s often better to search for one category at a time.
      • We recommend starting with the smaller categories before moving on to the bigger ones.
        • You can find multiple smaller categories off the start, and then save 1 object in each while using your remaining credits to where you finish off one of the categories with your final credit from the initial set, then repeat the process.
    • Finish finding all the items in the 6 categories:
      • Graduation caps – 25 in each level
      • Numbers – 30 in each level
      • Feathers – 20 in each level
      • Pawns – 10 in each level
      • Books – 10 on each level
      • Magnifying glasses – 30 in each level
      • The pawns and magnifying glasses look quite similar, so be careful when using your last few credits while trying to complete pawns.
  • Scoring
    • You start the game with 2,000 points.
    • As time passes, you slowly lose points, with a point dripping away each second.
    • Finish the game as quickly as you can to keep as many of your starting points as you can.
    • Each time you start a new level you retain your score at the end of the prior level plus 2,000 more points.
  • Hints
    • Hints can help you find objects or numbers that are proving difficult to spot.
      • When you select the hint button, the game will highlight any of the available items you want to search for.
      • Select one of the items and the game will briefly highlight its location on the screen.
    • You only have 3 hints for each stage of the game, so use them wisely.
      • You will need to complete at least half of the set in each level without using any hints as you are collecting items across 6 different categories.
      • You generally should not use more than 1 hint for any object type unless it is your last object type remaining and you have as many or more hints remaining as you have objects left to find.
