Invaders War Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Select the PLAY GAME button in the center of the game’s welcome screen to start.
  • The welcome screen has a sound control button in the upper right corner and a credits button in the upper left corner.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Use the left and right arrow keys to move left and right.
    • Tap the spacebar to shoot.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Use the on screen controls.
      • The move left & move right buttons are in the lower left corner of the screen.
      • The shoot button is in the lower right corner of the screen.
    • This game is a bit easier to beat on desktop computers with a connected keyboard than it is on mobile devices.
  • Controls & indicators
    • Your spare lives are shown in the upper left corner.
    • An energy bar is shown across the top center.
    • Your cumulative game score is shown in the upper right corner.
• Game Play
  • Levels
    • This game has 10 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
    • You beat a level whenever all the aliens on it are destroyed.
    • Each time you start a level your energy meter is full.
  • Dying & extra lives
    • You die if your energy bar reaches zero or if you get shot by an alien.
    • You start the game with 3 lives. as represented by the hearts shown in the upper left.
    • You can earn extra lives by shooting the spaceship moving across the top of the screen, though the maximum lives you can hold is 3.
    • Initially the heart the spaceship drops adds to your energy meter, but if your energy meter fills to 100% and you have fewer then 3 hearts the extra energy is converted into an extra life.
  • Scoring
    • You score points for each enemy you shoot, each enemy destroyed, and each level cleared.
    • Your game score is cumulative across levels.
  • Enemies & strategy
    • Enemy strength
      • All enemies can destroy your ship with a single shot.
      • On the first stage enemies only take one shot to destroy.
      • On later stages enemies can take 3 or 4 shots to destroy.
    • Enemies have different movement patterns depending on the level.
      • Some move back and forth and never move down, while others move down a row each time they make a full horizontal movement pattern and hit the screen edge.
      • When the aliens are moving downward you really want to do your best to hide behind the bases and shoot the lowest enemies so that you have more time to react to their shots. Taking out the left or right edge columns can also give you more time between their transitions down a row.
    • Enemy movement speed
      • On most levels when few enemies appear on the screen they tend to speed up.
      • The speed is increased when there are 4 enemies left, then increased again with 2 enemies left, and increased again with 1 enemy left.
      • When enemies are moving fast it is best to try to lead them and shoot out in front of them so they run into your fire. Use the bases to hide behind when switching directions, or try to switch directions near the level edge to stay out in front of them.
    • Shooting cadence
      • You shoot straight up each time you shoot & do not control aim beyond your initial position.
      • When you shoot you can shoot again either when your shot hits an enemy or clears the screen boundary.
      • You can move along with enemies to keep them aligned as you shoot, or you can choose to shoot in areas where there are overlapping enemies moving in opposing directions to minimize your risk of missing & keep shooting rapidly.
