- Stone matching
- Open stones
- You can only match open stones.
- Open stones are stones which do not have a stone on top of them and have at least one side (left or right) free of other stones.
- This game highlights open stones in a lighter background color, while stones that are not open have a darker gray background color.
- You can only select open stones. They turn yellow when selected.
- Identical matching
- Flowers can be matched with any other flower stone.
- Seasons can be matched with any other season stone.
- All other matches must be identical.
- If you have trouble visually matching some Chinese characters you can use the numbers in the left corner to help you match them, though the same type of stone (e.g. bamboo, buttons, or symbols) must be matched in addition to the same numerical value.
- If you select a second stone that does not match the first stone then the first selection will be deselected.
- Levels
- This game has 60 different levels.
- You can play the levels in any order.
- You can replay levels you have previously beat to try to finish them faster and earn a higher score.
- Scoring
- Your game score is cumulative across levels.
- Scoring points
- Each tile pair you match is worth 100 points.
- Your level score also rewards you a bonus based on how quickly you beat a level.
- Each level has a time limit associated with scoring points for time.
- The time limit (while not shown) gives you 10 points for every second you have remaining under the time limit.
- If your tile-based score on a level is 3,200 and you had a total level score of 7,810 when you finished the level in 2:19 then your total score would jump to 8,000 if you finished the level in 2:00, or 8,600 if you finished it in 1 minute.
- If you replay a level your new score only replaces the old score if you earn a higher new score.
- Spending points
