How to Play
Move Marcus along the walls or fall off platform to move more quickly. Make your way to the level exit fast to earn up to a 3-snail rating on each stage.
- Starting the Game
- The game starts with the first tutorial level active when the game loads.
- Move right to start playing.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including beat levels and level star (snail) ratings.
- Game Controls
- Desktop
- Move left by pressing either the A key or the left arrow key.
- Move right by pressing either the D key or the right arrow key.
- Rotate onto walls at a 90 degree turn by pressing the W key or the up arrow key.
- Rotate onto narrow walls by pressing the S key or the down arrow key.
- Press the R key to restart the current level.
- Touchscreen devices
- Use the on screen controls.
- Drag your finger left or right and hold it on the screen to keep moving in that direction.
- Swipe upward on the screen or downward on the screen to rotate the screen and move on an adjacent wall.
- You can drag to a side and up or down to activate both motion types at the same time, however you’ll likely need to let up when you are switching between up and down.
- This game is a bit easier on desktop due to the analog controls of a keyboard.
- Game controls
- On the left side the game shows the current level number, level play time, and has buttons to restart the level or go to the level select screen.
- On the right side the game has buttons for controlling game settings and muting sounds. After you play a level for a while a solution button appears below the other 2 buttons, enabling you to see a walkthrough of how to beat the level.
- The level select screen shows your snail ratings on each level.
- Game Play
- Basics
- You can walk on any surface you are standing on & can turn onto most walls you come across.
- If you walk to the edge of a platform and do not turn the field then if you walk past the edge you’ll fall onto whatever platform is below.
- Walls with a striped line pattern on them can’t be turned onto (though you can still walk on them if you fall onto them).
- You can fall onto the blocks & walk across the blocks, but can not rotate onto blocks.
- Golden barriers can be walked on.
- A partially broken golden barrier can still be walked on even if it shows cracks.
- Some golden barriers need broken to pass through them.
- You can smash & break a golden barrier by hitting it at high speed with a block twice.
- Blocks
- Some levels have brown blocks on them.
- The brown blocks move when you rotate gravity.
- The brown blocks can be used to smash yellow gates, and the yellow research panel on the 19th level.
- On many levels you’ll need to move blocks out of the way & move in circuitous patterns to get the blocks in the correct positions to be able to beat the levels.
- Levels
- This game has 20 levels.
- Levels are unlocked sequentially.
- You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
- Winning vs losing
- You win by making your way through the level and passing through the exit.
- On most levels it is not possible to lose, though it can take a while to beat some levels.
- The exceptions where you can actually lose are level 17 (if you fall through the first exit you come across rather than going through where the yellow barrier is) and level 19 (if you break the yellow wall near the bottom of the stage).
- Star ratings
- Whenever you beat a level you earn a one star (snail) rating on it just for beating it.
- You can earn a 2-star or 3-star rating by finishing quickly.
- The end of the level shows the required completion time to earn 2 stars or 3 stars.
- Tips
- Stuck?
- If you get stuck on a level for a period of time the game will show a solutions button in the bottom of the right rail.
- Star ratings
- The level timer does not start until you move, so you can look at the level before making your first move to maximize your time efficiency.
- If you make an error and are playing for speed select the restart button and try again.
- If you can beat a level easily but are struggling to beat it quickly enough to earn a 2 or 3 snail rating consider playing through other levels until you beat all levels of the game and then circle back to levels you want to replay.
- On some levels you’ll need to use trial and error between the up and down arrow movements to maximize your movement speed.
- In general falling is faster than walking.
- While you are falling in midair you can move horizontally across the screen to run into a wall & then use the down arrow to rotate the screen.
- Blocks
- If you want a block to break a golden barrier you have to rotate the screen while the block is far away so that block builds up a lot of speed before it smashes into the gate.
- If you do not want the block to break a barrier rotate the screen back to change the direction of gravity to lessen the impact force.
- On some levels you need to use the down arrow movement after using the up arrow movement to repeatedly change gravity direction to get a moving box to turn while it is in the middle of a prior movement.
- Target Audience
- The game is suited for players who like puzzle platformer speedrun escape games.
- The game has no adult themed content.
