Mastermind Online Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Select Start Game on the welcome screen to begin.
  • Customize your game on the welcome screen. You have the following available options:
    • Code length (4, 6, and 8 lines)
    • Allow repetitions
  • Select How to Play to learn the rules of the game.
  • Select the enlarge button on the top right corner to switch between full screen and windowed modes.

  • Difficulty
    • The game determines difficulty based on the number of guesses you can make.
      • The game allows you to guess a pattern of 4, 6, and 8 balls.
      • You can also increase the difficulty via repeating patterns.
    • You can set your preferred difficulty level on the welcome screen before starting the game.
  • Basic rules
    • Determine the identity of the pattern by filling the rows with colored balls.
      • Select a colored ball from the 8-color menu on the bottom row.
      • Select any of the spaces on the currently active row to fill it in. Fill in all the spaces with your guesses.
      • Select check to see how many of the balls you’ve placed correctly.
    • You must guess all of the balls on the final puzzle.
      • You have 10 rows to place in your guesses.
      • If you guessed all the colors correctly before you use up all the provided rows, you win.
      • You lose if you run out of rows to put in guesses.
    • For much harder difficulty levels, you get extra chances.
      • These function as extra rows.
      • Solving for 6 spaces gives you 2 extra chances, while solving for 8 gives you 4 extra chances.
      • Receive an extra 2 chances if you’re solving with repeating patterns.
        • For 4 spaces, get 2.
        • For 6 spaces, get 4.
        • For 8 spaces, get 6.
  • Checking guide
    • The row of balls is represented by a truncated guide of balls forming a square.
    • Once you hit a check, the guide on the right side will show any of 3 kinds of balls. These indicate the status of your guesses.
      • A red ball indicates that you placed a ball in the code that’s in the correct spot.
      • A white ball indicates that you placed a colored ball in the code in an incorrect spot.
      • A blank ball indicates that you placed in an incorrect colored ball.
    • Keep guessing until you get everything correct or you run out of spaces to place in your guesses.
  • Strategy
    • Remember, the guide’s balls do not correspond to the position of the balls on the row.
      • e.g., If you positioned one of the balls correctly, regardless of its position, a red ball will always appear on the top left space on the guide.
      • You will still need to identify which of the balls you placed correctly.
    • Your first goal is to get as many of the balls correctly as you can. This means your first moves should be dedicated to having at least all 4 of the balls be white.
    • Once you get your first red ball, identify where their position would be.
    • Pay attention to your previous moves and use logical deduction to determine the identity and the position of the balls.
