Mighty MagiSwords Hoversword Hustle Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Click the play button in the lower right corner of the game’s welcome screen.
    • This brings up the character select mode where you can choose to play as Prohyas or Vambre.
  • The welcome screen also has a gears button which can be used to turn sound on or off, reset game data, or activate cheat mode.
    • Activating cheat mode unlocks all 12 MagiSwords.
    • Your web browser automatically stores your high score and game progress. Resetting the game erases your gameplay data and relocks 10 swords.

    • Use your mouse to aim where your shots. If you are floating up and down as you fly along that will adjust your aim even if you do not move the mouse.
    • Left click your mouse to use your sword.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap the screen with your finger to use your sword.
  • The upper right corner of the game has a pause button.
• Game Play
  • Game design
    • The game shows your level progress in the upper left corner.
    • You start each level with 3 heart containers.
      • On each level your health is fully restored at the beginning.
      • You can use up to 5 continues.
      • If you lose 6 times it is game over but your level progress is kept in terms of sword unlocks.
    • Your heart containers are shown in the upper right corner.
  • Unlocking swords
    • Initially the tomato and chainsaw MagiSwords are unlocked with the remaining 10 swords locked.
    • When swords are locked it shows how many more levels you have to beat to unlock them.
      • To unlock swords after the third sword you will have to replay some levels, as each sword after it requires at least 2 additional beat levels to unlock but each sword is only associated with one level.
      • If you find one level particularly easy you can keep repeatedly using that level as your additional beat level to unlock other swords.
      • Swords 1 & 2 are unlocked automatically.
      • Swords 3 through 8 unlock a sword each after every other level beat.
      • Swords 9 through 12 unlock a sword after 3 levels are beat.
  • Sword functions & tips
    • Tomato MagiSword – unlocked
      • This sword fires tomatoes at bad guys running along the ground.
      • Use your mouse position to aim & left click to fire.
      • If you are flying higher you need to lead the enemy more with your shot & if you are flying lower you can fire a bit later.
    • Chainsaw MagiSword – unlocked
      • Chop down the dull trees so you do not run into them.
      • Do not hit the colorful TreeJays or you take damage.
    • Cactus MagiSword – unlocks after 2 levels
      • Shoots catcus balls at pterodactyls.
      • You must hit each pterodactyl 3 times to take them out before they try to fly into you.
    • Exploding Bubble MagiSword – unlocks after 4 levels
      • Shoot bubbles straight upward at the UFOs flying across the screen.
      • You do not control the aim, only the timing of your shots, as your shots go straight up.
      • Your character flies back and forth along the left 40% of the screen.
      • As UFOs make it to an edge of the screen they drop down vertically a bit and head in the opposite direction.
      • You can miss three or four times in a row as the UFOs fly back and forth multiple times before they get to you.
      • This is one of the easiest levels as each time you miss the UFO is closer to you vertically on the next pass, making it that much harder to miss again.
    • Groundpound MagiSword – unlocks after 6 levels
      • Drop boulders on a pack of robots in Galacton to prevent them from stealing your styles.
      • You fly up and down slightly and shoot out a bolt forward hitting robots on the same vertical plane. You can hit multiple robots with a single shot.
    • Magnet MagiSword – unlocks after 8 levels
      • Clean up the crates Nohyas dropped in Galacton.
      • Click once to attract a brown crate with the metal edge, then click again to fire it at the next crate.
      • The red and yellow crates can’t be grabbed and must be hit with brown crates.
      • Due to the nature of the muti-step movement and the inability to grab the yellow and red crates this level is significantly harder than prior levels. When you get hit once it is very easy to get hit two or three times in rapid succession.
      • If you miss a crate sometimes you can quickly grab the crate behind it and then throw that into the crate which was about to hit you.
      • You can also throw crates off the far edge of the screen and they will still explode even if they do not hit into anything.
    • Sleeping Dragon MagiSword – unlocks after 10 levels
      • Take down the local birds which have been writing scathing reviews of Warriors for Hire on their Magimobiles.
      • You shoot out a wave which can hit multiple birds at once.
      • The wave stays with you as you fly up and down while moving forward.
      • Shooting again takes a while to recharge, so it is best to shoot a bit early.
    • Snowball MagiSword – unlocks after 12 levels
      • Shoot out the fires caused by Grup accidentally dropping his torch.
      • This sword acts almost like a machine gun, rapidly shooting and endless wave of snowballs so long as you keep the left click button pressed.
      • Move your mouse up and down to adjust your aim & try to aim a bit high when shooting far out in front as the snowballs curve down a bit at the end.
      • Your character moves up and down as you fly, so it is best to try to keep your aim far out in front of you so your relative vertical position movements have less of an impact on your shot aim.
      • You do not need to put out every fire, but any fire you run into can take away a heart container.
    • Excaliburger MagiSword – unlocks after 15 levels
      • Help Old Man Oldman fight of a wave of crows entering his yard.
      • Your aim automatically moves in an arc back and forth with you tapping to click when the angle will hit the crows flying by.
      • Crows fly across the top of the screen from the back of the screen to the front and then swoop down at you.
      • Hitting them with a burger causes them to become bloated and fall from the sky.
    • Boulder MagiSword – unlocks after 18 levels
      • Plug up the X and O geysers Princess Zange is worried about.
      • This is similar to the tomato level except you stay on a higher and static vertical plane & the relative speed the geysers past you is faster, requiring you to shoot much earlier.
    • Lobster Claw MagiSword – unlocks after 21 levels
      • Cut down the cacti in the Barren Faceland to help Witchy Simone find her spell book.
      • Play mechanics on this level are similar to the Chainsaw MagiSword except your timing requires greater precision & the cacti must be quite close to you before you can cut it down.
    • Blowdryer MagiSword – unlocks after 25 levels
      • Stop the creepy flying eyeballs that Witchy Simone accidentally created.
      • Hold the mouse left click in to keep the blowdryer constantly going.
      • Move your mouse back and forth to hit the eyeballs as they swoop for you.
      • Most eyeballs will move across the top of the screen from the back to the front before swooping down, but some will swoop down from near the back of the screen.
      • You can not hit the eyeballs when they are at the top of the screen & can only hit them during their swoop movement.
