    • Setting up
      • The difficulty of the minesweeper game depends on 2 factors:
        • The size of the field (matrix).
        • The density of the mines in the field (mine rate).
      • The larger the matrix and the higher the mine rate, the more mines you must find & the higher probability of losing.
        • The three matrix sizes are 10×16 (160 cells), 14×23 (322 cells), and 17×28 (476 cells).
        • The three mine rates are 5%, 10%, and 20%.
        • Small boards have 8, 16, or 32 mines.
        • Medium boards have 16, 32, or 64 mines.
        • Large boards have 23, 47, or 95 mines.
      • You can select the difficulty on the welcome screen.
    • Basic rules
      • Your goal is to identify and plant a flag on every mine in the matrix without selecting any of them.
        • Use the flag setting to flag cells where you are certain there is a mine.
      • There are 2 types of tiles on the matrix: open and closed.
        • Open tiles are those you clicked on. Closed tiles are unrevealed.
        • Open tiles must be either blank or contain numbers for the game to continue.
        • If you open a tile that contains a mine, it’s game over.
      • Use the numbers to help you identify the location of the mines.
        • The numbers on the open tiles indicate the number of mines adjacent to it.
        • Adjacent tiles includes tiles on the diagonal. The key is that they are all one tile away from the number.
    • The face
      • The face acts as both indicator and a start again button.
      • On a game in progress, the face makes expressions as you click and tap on the screen.
        • When you click on a tile that reveals a blank or a number, it just opens its mouth. It does the same when you plant a flag over a suspected mine.
        • When you click on a mine, it shows a dead face with x’s for eyes.
        • When you plant flags on all the mines, the face wears sunglasses.
    • Strategy
      • Start by revealing as much of the blank spaces as you can.
        • Selecting a blank tile automatically reveals as many of the blanks at once.
        • Start with a cell somewhere in the middle as it enables you to work in any direction so long as you do not hit a mine.
        • Depending on your difficulty level you have a 5%, 10%, or 20% chance of hitting a mine.
        • If you do not hit a mine you will hit a number indicating nearby mines or an open cell which opens up much of the matrix.
      • Pay attention to the numbers carefully.
        • Use logical deduction to identify the location of the hidden mines.
          • If a cell has no number you can open up every adjacent cell including those which are diagonal.
          • If a cell has open cells in all direction but one and has a number on it you know the uncovered cell is a mine.
          • Similarly, if a cell has only one covered adjacent cell and has a larger number than the mines you have marked you know that adjacent remaining cell is a mine.
          • Work vertically and horizontally to keep uncovering more cells, marking more bombs, and enabling more moves through logical deduction as you reveal more information.
        • In some cases you have to guess, particularly in corners where you only have information from a couple directions and mines which further block data flow about the adjacent cells.
          • Boards with a low mine ratio rarely require guesses beyond the initial board opening.
          • Boards with a higher mine ratio are much more likely to require at least some guessing.
          • If you must guess, it is usually best to guess where the guess has the lowest probability of hurting you.
            • For example, if you know a mine is on 1 of 2 cells you have a 50% chance of blowing up.
            • If there are 5 covered cells and only one of them is a mine then you have a 20% chance of blowing up.
      • Mark all the obvious mines first.
        • These include tiles completely surrounded by numbers & those which have a higher numerical value than marked adjacent mines with only 1 covered adjacent cell.
  • Target Audience
    • The game is suited for players who like minesweeper games.
    • The game has no adult themed content.
