How to Play

As Nature Cat, help keep the birds well-fed by filling up bird feeders. Feed as many birds as you can before time runs out.

  • Starting the Game
    • Select the green play button on the lower right corner of the welcome screen.
      • A cutscene will play explaining the premise of the game.
      • Choose a level to begin playing.
      • Initially only the first level is unlocked. As you beat levels you unlock the next level.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
  • Game Controls
    • Desktop
      • Using your mouse, left click to fill up cups and bird feeders.
    • Touchscreen devices
      • Tap on the screen with your fingers and use it like a mouse.
  • Game Play
    • Choose a level
      • You start off with one level unlocked.
        • At the beginning of each level it states your goal for how many birds you need to feed.
        • Each bird has a thought bubble showing which type of feed it likes.
      • Play through all in sequence. Clearing one level unlocks the next one.
        • The first level has you feed Blue Jays.
        • The second level introduces the Male Cardinal.
          • It also introduces the bottle feeder which can feed two birds at a time.
        • The third level introduces the Female Cardinal.
          • It also introduces a flat feeder which can feed two birds at a time.
        • The fourth level introduces the Chickadee.
        • The fifth level introduces the Red Winged Blackbird.
          • It also introduces squirrels which steal the bird feed.
          • You can scare off squirrels by clicking on them.
        • The sixth level introduces the Yellow Rumped Warbler.
        • The seventh level introduces a flat feeder that holds mealworms and can feed up to 4 birds at a time.
        • The eighth level introduces the Male Hairy Woodpecker.
        • The ninth level introduces the Female Hairy Woodpecker.
        • The tenth level warns to watch out for squirrels.
          • Squirrels, which were introduced in level five, became much more aggressive by level eight with multiple squirrels often appearing on the screen at the same time.
          • On the final level it seems there are more squirrels than birds!
      • On each level you see the bird for that level along with birds from prior levels.
        • Each bird will only eat a specific type of feed from a specific location.
        • The first bird in line needs to be fed before the second gets a chance to eat.
    • Interface
      • The bottom left side of the screen shows how many birds you’ve fed.
      • To the right of it are acorns, representing how well you performed in the level.
        • The more birds you feed, the higher your acorn rating.
      • Occupying 2/3 of the bottom of the screen is the timer, colored green. The timer slowly runs until there’s no more
    • Feeding the birds
      • Select the food container to fill up Nature Cat’s cup.
      • Pour the food by selecting the bird feeder.
        • A meter to the left of the bird feeder shows how much food is left in the feeder.
        • Each bird feeder can accommodate 1 bird in the first level, though later on some feeders can accommodate 2.
        • Each species of bird prefer a different type of feeder & feed.
      • Refill the bird feeder once the birds have finished feeding based on which bird is next in line.
        • Birds will only occupy a feeder if it’s full.
        • Birds will take their time eating. If you want to feed more birds, keep as many feeders filled as you can.
      • Keep feeding until you’ve fed enough birds to clear the level.
    • Tips
      • Keep Nature Cat’s cup filled and wait for a feeder to go empty. This will reduce the time it takes to refill the feeders.
      • Track what birds are next and keep filling those.
      • Click squirrels as soon as they appear in the screen so they do night fight the birds and steal the feed.
  • Target Audience
    • The game is suited for children of all ages and for fans of the PBS series Nature Cat.
    • The game has no adult content.
