Ninja Plumber Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select the play button to begin.
  • After the welcome screen remains idle for a few seconds, the game brings down a list of controls on the top row. From left to right, they are as follows:
    • Control button: Opens the game’s tutorial window
    • Speaker button: Turns the game’s sound effects on or off
    • Music button: Turns the game’s music on or off
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

      • Use the left and right arrows to walk.
      • Use the up arrow to go up ladders.
      • Use the down arrow to go down ladders and crouch.
      • Use the Z key to jump.
      • Use the down arrow to duck.
      • Use the X key to fire shuriken.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers:
    • Tap on the left and right arrows to walk.
    • Tap on the right up arrow to jump.
    • Tap on the shuriken button to shoot
    • Tap on the left up and down arrows when on a ladder to climb.
    • Tap on the left down arrow to duck.

• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Run, hop, and climb until you reach the end of the level.
    • Pick up power ups to improve your combat skills
    • Defeat or get past any enemy you encounter.
      • You have 3 attacks: stomping, shooting, and hitting an enemy from below.
      • You can only do the last two attacks while leveled up.
    • Avoid falling off platforms and touching enemies.
      • Duck or jump to avoid the shots of enemies that shoot.
    • When you reach the end of the level, hit the giant box with a V to complete it.
    • Finish the game before the timer runs out.
      • The timer for each level runs for 300 seconds.
      • Each time you die, however, the game resets the timer.
  • Power ups
    • Power ups appear as colored mushrooms.
      • You can collect power ups by hitting question mark boxes or hidden boxes.
      • To use a power up, pick it up.
      • Don’t let power ups fall off pits.
    • Power up mushrooms will provide you with the following benefits:
      • Pink power ups make you grow. This would allow you to destroy the brick blocks that make up many platforms.
      • Green mushrooms come in hidden boxes and give you a 1up.
      • Black mushrooms upgrade you to ninja mode. This opens up your ability to shoot shuriken at all foes.
      • Red heart mushrooms replenish your lives.
    • Your power ups also serve as hit points.
      • When you get hit, you lose the power up but don’t lose a life.
      • If you lose a life, you lose all the power ups you’ve accrued up until that point.
    • If you finish a level with an active power up, you carry it over to the next level.
  • Level features
    • Platforms
      • Platforms can be made of question mark boxes or bricks.
      • Brick platforms can be destroyed after you level up.
    • Question mark boxes
      • These boxes yield various power ups.
      • Some of these boxes are invisible and make for a nice surprise when exploring the level.
    • Pinwheels
      • Pinwheels mark check points.
      • Each time you pass them, they save your level progress.
    • Pipes
      • These serve as platforms.
      • They have carnivorous plants that pop up. Don’t let it touch you.
      • You can shoot at the plant in ninja mode to get rid of the plant permanently.
    • Collapsing platforms
      • They look like yellow diamonds rather than squares.
      • When you step on them, they start shaking. You’ve only got a few brief seconds to stand before the collapse.
      • Jump off of them before they fall down or they take you down with them.
  • Lives
    • You start each level with 5 lives. These are shown on the top left corner of the screen.
      • Each time you get attacked by an enemy or fall of a ledge, you lose a life.
      • Lose all your lives and you fail the level.
    • Collect heart mushroom power ups to gain extra lives.
    • You can collect up to 6 lives at any given time.
    • The entire level resets each time you die.
  • Enemies
    • Different types of enemies roam each level.
      • Most enemies walk or move in a predictable pattern.
      • Many will yield points if attacked in one way or another.
    • Most of the lower-level enemies can be easily defeated by stomping on them.
      • To stomp on an enemy, jump up and land on top of the enemy in question.
      • At your weakest, stomping is your only way to defeat any enemy.
    • You can also defeat enemies by hitting them from below when they walk on a platform.
    • As you progress through the game, the enemies become more formidable.
      • A few enemies can be defeated only by shooting at them in ninja mode. These include walking foes with spikes on the top of their heads.
      • Some enemies, while beatable by stomping, will only yield points if you shoot at them.
  • Levels
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
      • You start with only the first level unlocked.
      • Finish one level to unlock the next.
    • You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
    • There are 15 levels in this game.
  • Scoring and completion
    • Score
      • Various actions across the level provide you with points.
        • 100 for every enemy you defeat (with a few exceptions).
        • 100 for every coin you collected.
      • Every point you earn carries over each time the level resets.
        • This rings true even if you die and start the level again.
        • Even if you’ve already defeated an enemy or picked up a coin once before, you can earn points from doing so again.
        • Your score throughout all the levels is cumulative. It’s every point you earn from every time you played the level.
    • Completion
      • To complete, the level you must pick up all the stars.
        • The stars add nothing to your score, but are key to improving your star rating for the level.
        • Your star rating for the level is indicated below its icon on the level selection screen.
      • Because the entire level resets when you die, you sometimes need to backtrack after to collect all the stars in a level.
        • This only applies if you die after collecting at least one star and passing by a pinwheel.
