- Game Play
- Basics
- This is a Super Mario Bros. inspired platforming game featuring a pixelated character who is able to jump and double jump.
- Enemies
- Other mobile enemies are colorful and can be stomped on.
- Spikes and poisonous flowers can blend into the background and look harmless, but do a lot of damage.
- Some background elements which are white look like foreground elements but can not be walked on.
- Taking damage
- You start each world with 3 hearts.
- Each time you get hit you blink for a brief period of time.
- While you are blinking you can’t take damage, but you also can’t hit other enemies.
- When you have zero hearts remaining if you get hit again you die.
- Healing
- Each time you beat a level your health is fully restored.
- Each time you die your health is fully restored.
- Whenever you run over a heart container you gain another heart container of health.
- Levels
- This game has 15 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
- You can replay previously beat levels at any time by accessing them through the level select screen in the upper right corner.
- Winning vs losing
- You win a level by making it to the door at the end of the level.
- You lose if either you fall off platform or get hit while having zero filled heart containers.
- This game offers unlimited continues starting you at the beginning of the level you failed.
- Scoring
- Each coin you collect is worth 10 points.
- Enemies you jump on are typically worth 30 points each.
- Your score for each level is specific to that level.
- Tips
- Broad hit detection
- This game is rather forgiving with hit detection when you jump onto moving enemies.
- The flip side of that generosity is it is easy to accidentally walk into spikes or poisonous flower.
- Jumps
- When you double jump you can jump twice in a row immediately, or jump once then jump again while in midair.
- If you are near the screen’s top or have a platform above you that blocks your ability to jump higher when your head hits the limit, meaning you’ll need to jump around or jump once and then jump again.
- Some levels have spikes or flowers on the roof as well, requiring you to jump, wait, and then jump again (instead of double jumping all at once).
- When you have to jump around a higher platform you want to land on it can make sense to be slightly misaligned before the initial jump so you can jump away only slightly & then jump back harder.
- Some jumps require you to land on a narrow platform. The length of your jump (as a running fall off, an ordinary jump, or a double jump) depends largely on the relative height of platforms. In many cases you alternate single jumps and double jumps as you alternate between lower and higher platforms.
- When you walk onto springs you will repeatedly bounce. Save your jump off of the spring for near the apex of the spring’s push.
- Invincibility
- After taking a hit you are temporarily invincible. This also acts as a double edge sword.
- In some cases when you take damage it makes sense to sprint quickly through the level while you are invincible.
- The flip side to the above is you do not know when it will wear off & it can wear off just after you land on an enemy, meaning you miss hitting them & then they immediately hit you. A way around this problem is to slow down & double jump to give yourself more time in the air so that you are not invincible and can do damage when you land on the enemy.
- Timing
- Levels are not timed, so it makes sense to play slow and time your jumps with precision through harder parts of the level.
- If there are enemies moving back and forth on a platform you need to jump off of or onto you can strategically time your approach so that
- you defeat them before you jump (if they are on your platform)
- you land on them (if the jump is easy to time and has plenty of clearance, or if the platform you are jumping onto is narrow)
- you land while they are on the other side of a platform (if the platform they walk on is wide)
- Target Audience
- The game is suited for players who like retro platformer games.
- The game has no adult themed content.
