This is a basic game of Freecell where players must build all 52 cards into suited ascending foundations within a 30-minute time limit. The difference between this game and normal Freecell is you only get 1 free cell instead of 4.
- Move cards while alternating suit color on the tableau.
- Build suited ascending foundations starting with the Aces.
- Use the free cell for temporary card storage.

How to Play
Build down while alternating suit color on the tableau & build up by suit to the 4 foundations.
- Starting the Game
- Select the Play button on the game’s welcome screen.
- Under the Play button are buttons for game Help, High Scores, and More Games.
- The lower left corner of the welcome screen has a language select dropdown.
- The lower right corner has buttons for sharing the game on social media, reading game developer information, and installing the game as a web app on your device for quick play.
- Game Controls
- Desktop
- Drag a card or a descending run of cards which alternates suit colors from one column to another on the tableau.
- Players can drag cards back and forth between tableau columns & the free cells, but any cards which are dragged onto a foundation can not be moved back into play.
- Touchscreen devices
- Tap the screen with a finger to select a card and drag it where you want to play it.
- Controls & indicators
- At the top of the right column there are 4 buttons for controlling game sound, controlling game music, pausing the game, and switching to full screen mode.
- Below those buttons the game shows your score and how much time you have remaining to beat the game.
- At the bottom of the right column there are buttons to restart the current dealt hand or undo moves.
- The undo button can be used up to 3 times.
- Game Play
- Deal
- This game uses a single deck of 52 cards.
- All cards are dealt directly to the tableau face up across 8 columns.
- 4 columns have 7 cards each and 4 columns have 6 cards each.
- Restart vs New Deal
- If you click the restart button in the lower right corner you will be redealt the hand you were just dealt.
- If you nearly beat a hand but made a key mistake early then you can start that same deal again and use a different lay strategy.
- If you want to be dealt an entirely different hand you should instead refresh the web browser to get cards dealt in a different order.
- Given that you only have 1 free cell, many deals are not beatable, so replaying an unbeatable deal over and over again might be a bit masochistic.
- Playing
- Tableau moves
- You can only move the bottom cards of a stack on the tableau.
- To move more than one card at a time you need either empty columns on the tableau or the free cell empty.
- Cards you move must be in descending incremental order while alternating suit color.
- If you want to move a tall stack but do not have enough spaces to move it at once sometimes you can move it by breaking it down into smaller stacks & moving it across other columns on the tableau a bit at a time.
- In this game you can place any card or any sequential descending run of cards that alternates suit colors onto empty columns on the tableau.
- Some games require a King to be the root card on empty columns, but this game does not.
- Creating an empty column early in the game and getting many Aces to the foundations early opens up a lot of other play opportunities.
- If you see a card sitting atop a card of a lower value of the opposite color then try to move early to open that up.
- If you see a stack with many cards of the same color try to play from that into other stacks whenever you can as there is a great likelihood that stack will get you stuck at some point if not.
- Building foundations
- Once cards have been played to a foundation you can not bring them back into the game.
- The game automatically moves some cards to the foundations when it knows you will not need to use those cards to make sequential runs on the tableau.
- You can also manually move some other cards to the foundations to enable other plays.
- Free cells
- You can store cards temporarily in the free cell to enable other plays, but should try to keep it empty most of the time.
- The free cell combines with empty columns to allow you to make large moves. For example, if you had two empty columns you were not moving cards to and had an empty free cell you could move 5 cards at a time (2*2+1).
- The game offers an undo moves button which you can use up to 3 times.
- Scoring
- You score 10 points for each card laid to a foundation, yielding a maximum base score of 520 points.
- You also earn points for how much time you have remaining when the foundations are completed.
- Each second is worth 50 points.
- Most of your score will come from time since having 11 seconds remaining when you beat the 30-minute time limit will yield more points from time than the cards.
- If you beat the game in 6 minutes you would have a 72,000 point time bonus.
- Target Audience
- The game is suited for players who like exceptionally difficult Freecell Solitaire card games.
- This game is 1 in a series of 4: Freecell, Three Cell, Two Cell, & One Cell.
- Stronghold Solitaire is a bit of a hybrid/fusion game where on each round you get one less free cell. One exception between Stronghold and these other Freecell Solitaire games is you do not have to alternate suit color on the tableau in Stronghold Solitaire.
- The game has no adult themed content.
