How to Play
Collect food to give to the hungry. Eat Scooby Snacks to gain special powers. Avoid the bad guys!
- Starting the Game
- Click on the green and white button in the lower right corner of the welcome screen.
- This will explain how Scooby and the Gang are collecting vegetables to help feed the hungry.
- Click another green and white button and this leads to the first level which tells you instructions how to move, to collect vegetables, to eat Scooby Snacks and to avoid monsters in the garden.
- Your web browser automatically stores your high score and rating.
- Game Controls
- Desktop
- Use your keyboard arrow keys to control Scooby Doo’s movement through the mazes.
- On touchscreen devices you use your finger like a mouse.
- The game has a pause button in the upper right corner.
- Game Play
- This game is modeled after Pac Man with a few important differences.
- Relative Speed: Scooby is faster than the monsters.
- Character Control: You have to keep pressing the direction you want Scooby Doo to move (whereas in Pac Man the character would keep moving in whatever direction you pressed until it ran into something).
- Traps: The fields have holes in them you can fall down.
- Scooby Snacks vs Power Pellets: When Scooby Doo eats Scooby Snacks (the equivalent of power pellets in Pac Man) he does not gain the ability to attack monsters, rather he can break through thin walls and jump over holes in the ground.
- Level Completion: When you have ate everything on the screen the game does not automatically take you to the next level. Rather you have to walk through one of the exits to the next level.
- Monster Count: In Pac Man every level has 4 ghosts which enter the playing field almost immediately. In this game each level has a different number of monsters which increases as you progress through the game & they tend to enter at a pace over time. Monsters can also come out of the top or the bottom of the spawn location (whereas in Pac Man they always come out the top).
- Dying Location: Rather than starting at the bottom center of the game (as is done in Pac Man) when you lose one of your three lives in this game you restart in roughly the same location you died.
- Extra Lives: In this game you get an extra life every 5,000 points. In Pac Man the extra life schedule increases at a geometric pace.
- Strategy
- Be sure to get the food items near the holes when there are few enemies on the screen early in the level or when you have the Scooby Snacks power up enabled.
- If you get the easier food first and leave the hard ones for last when there are more enemies on the screen it is quite easy to die getting cornered by a monster or get spooked into accidentally falling in a hole.
- You have to plan your screen exit after eating the last pellet. If you save the hardest one for last you still then have to move from there past the monsters to one of the level exits.
- When new monsters are about to enter the game there is a red warning symbol near their spawning location.
- Be sure to grab the food near their spawning spot early in the level & when they are not likely to enter.
- It gets progressively harder to grab the food near their spawn location as you advance through the game.
- Scooby Snacks warnings
- Your Scooby Snacks have a power meter at the top of the screen which shows when the power will run out. Be prepared for that.
- A big potential risk with Scooby Snacks is you can accidentally break through walls you did not mean to and then get hit by the monsters.
- Audience
- This game is loads of fun for Scooby Doo fans of all ages.
- This game does not have any adult themes.
