Scooby Doo Doo Good Ruff Rescue Game Play Instructions
How to Play
Help Scooby Doo navigate the mine tunnels and rescue dogs. Along the way, help him collect Scooby Snacks and avoid various hazards.
- Starting the Game
- Click on the large play button on the lower right corner on the welcome screen to start the game.
- Before the game begins, a splash page will describe your main goals: help Scooby save the dogs from the evil Miner Forty-Niner.
- Once the game loads, it begins with a brief tutorial page for the mechanics of the game.
- You can view the game’s instructions again by clicking the question mark (?) button on the pause menu.
- The game displays your previous high score on the lower left corner.
- It saves your high score automatically on your browser.
- Game Controls
- Desktop
- Use the up, left, and right arrow keys to move.
- Scooby can only move forward.
- Game Play
- Locate and rescue as many imprisoned dogs as you can.
- To rescue a dog, approach them
- Consume Scooby Snacks for extra points.
- Avoid and bypass obstacles.
- The game’s terrain has various obstacles laid out. Here are the ways to overcome them.
- Stationary obstacles (rocks, crates, barrels, pits): move around them.
- Some rickety items (e.g. boarded-up pits) turn into stationary obstacles after you step on them.
- Moving obstacles (mine carts, the baddies): move quickly out of their way.
- Rivers: Move to a stationary or floating platform and jump onto them.
- Jump on and off a moving platform as fast as you can.
- Dodge Miner Forty-Niner.
- Miner Forty-Niner acts more like a hazard. He moves in a single path.
- Move out of his way to keep him from catching you.
- There can be several of him moving on-screen at the same time.
- This makes a lot of sense; he’s a costume-wearing Scooby Doo villain. He might have several henchmen wearing a Forty-Niner disguise.
- Keep moving.
- The screen slowly but surely recedes. If the scrolling overtakes you, it’s game over.
- It’s game over when:
- You fall down or trip into the river.
- You get run over by a mine cart.
- You get captured by Miner Forty-Niner.
- The screen scrolls down past you.
- Scoring
- No points for moving left to right
- 1 point every time you move forward
- 10 points for rescuing a dog
- 12 points for collecting a box of Scooby Snacks
- The game ranks you according to your high score.
- Strategy
- You have two main limitations to consider:
- You can only move forward and sideways.
- The game will slowly scroll past you if you stay still.
- Take a page from Frogger and Crossy Road.
- Anticipate a few of your moves well in advance.
- Look for dogs and Scooby Snacks as you move forward.
- Moving forward at a floating crossing at the wrong time means game over.
- This is especially important if you’re crossing a river with floating platforms.
- Be patient but don’t wait too long.
- Fortunately, a lot of the game takes place in clear ground.
- The river crossings with moving platforms are the most difficult obstacles in the game.
- It can be very easy to miscalculate the approach of a platform.
- It gets more difficult if you must cross rivers simultaneously.
- Audience
- This is a game for all ages and for fans of the new Scooby Doo series.
- This game has no adult content.
