- Your web browser automatically stores your high score, best combo, best multiplier, most kills and best distance.
- Game Controls
- Desktop
- Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to control your movement up or down along with your lateral placement on the screen.
- Your ship automatically flies toward the right and shoots bullets, but you control where on the screen you are.
- Tap the spacebar to change which of the 6 gun types is equipped.
- Touchscreen devices
- Touch the screen with your fingers to use them like the arrow keys.
- You can tap on the gun button in the lower right corner to change which gun you are using.
- Across the top of the screen it shows your current score, your bonus tier, how many lives you have remaining, how much life you have left on your current life (in red) and how powered your shield is (in blue). To the far right at the top of the screen is a pause button.
- Across the bottom of the screen there is a level progress meter which shows how far you have made it through the current level. Your weapon is shown in the bottom right of the screen.
- Game Play
- Moving
- You automatically fly to the right and automatically shoot bullets.
- You control your vertical and horizontal placement on the screen.
- Power Ups
- The game contains a variety of power ups including weapon upgrades, score multiplier, damage multiplier, additional points, additional lives, and a ship repair.
- The power ups with a number on them are multipliers.
- The red numbers are score multipliers. If you have a 2X status and then hit a 3X you go to 5X and then if you hit another 3X it goes to 8X. Whenever you get hit your score multiplier goes back to 1 and you build up again.
- The purple numbers with a lightning bolt on them are damage multipliers. You can get a 2X or a 3X, but they are not additive. Damage multipliers last for around 30 seconds.
- Running into the red skull kills everything else on the screen.
- Collecting the yellow shield boosts your defenses by making you temporarily invincible.
- The blue and white shield upgrades your shield.
- The blue shield with a red wrench repairs your ship.
- Guns improve the strength of your weapon.
- There are 3 bars in the lower right of the screen showing the strength of your gun. The strength increase only applies to the gun you are currently using, so if you already have a gun at full power you may want to switch to another gun to power it up before running over another gun icon.
- The following guns are available: plasma (single plasma ball), blaster (spread shot), ray (laser beam), rockets, flak (spray), and electro (voltage fire).
- Changing guns is easy on cell phones by clicking on the weapon button in the lower right corner.
- On desktop tap the spacebar to switch weapons.
- The power ups with a question mark on them can be any of the other power ups.
- Health & Lives
- The game starts with 4 lives: the one you are currently playing and three spare ships.
- Initially enemy attacks hit your shield until it is weakened and then they begin to damage your ship health.
- If you fly for a while without getting hit your shield regenerates.
- Each time you advance to a new level you start with full health and full shield.
- You have to click on the words “Next Level” to start the subsequent level.
- You can win free lives from some of the question mark bonuses.
- Strategy
- This is a high action game where it is impossible to kill all the enemies even if you have the highest powered weapon, therefore your goal should be to ensure your lives last through all 6 stages and to try to keep your score bonus multiplier going as long as possible within each level.
- If you are close to dying near the end of a level try to avoid rather than confront enemies.
- If you have a high score multiple do everything you can to keep scoring points so the multiple keeps going as long as possible in that level. The multiplier lasts as long as you have a point combo in orange, but when the points are moved across to the green area the point combo resets.
- Your score is cumulative across all 6 stages.
- When there is not a lot going on in the screen early on in levels it makes sense to keep moving up and down to shoot random enemies that enter the screen.
- As you advance your weapons grow more powerful (with a stronger gun and a multi-directional spray shot) but the enemies also become stronger and more frequent. Here are some strategies for individual enemies
- Frigates are large ships which shoots two bullets: stay between both lines of fire.
- Tanks are large ships with one bullet line near the bottom: shoot at it near the upper part of the ship.
- Electrician ship which does an electric charge: be near the middle of the screen to start shooting it and as it lines up to try to shock your ship press the left arrow key while you keep shooting it.
- Wave swarm: Try to stay in the middle of it and keep shooting. Do not move up and down to follow the wave but let the enemies come to your bullets.
- Overwhelming waves of enemies: Try to shoot the laser turret & flak turret fixed guns along the top and bottom of the screen shooting up and down and do your best to avoid the other ships shooting at you.
- Aggressive golden mines chase you, so you must shoot them while they are in front of you.
- Teleporting ships can be shot if they are far in front of you, but they generally are not worth trying to chase down if they are already parallel to you or behind you.
- The cart turrets which move up and down while shooting left are often worth avoiding unless you have a strong damage bonus activated or there are few other enemies on the screen.
- Target Audience
- The game is suited for side scrolling shooter fans of all ages.
- The ease of controls (with automated firing) along with the first couple levels being exceptionally easy makes the game fun for younger children.
- Older kids & adults will enjoy the higher level of difficulty on the last couple levels and the mechanics of the score and damage multipliers.
- The game has no adult themed content.
