- Sokoban basics
- Move all the boxes to their designated slots somewhere in the level.
- To move a box:
- Stand on an empty space beside it opposite to where you want it to move.
- Move in the direction you want to go.
- Boxes can only move in an empty space.
- A box cannot move through a wall or another box.
- If a box is in a corner or is trapped between a wall and another box, it is stuck.
- If any one box is stuck in a space other than a designated slot, the level becomes unwinnable.
- The game does not save your solve time or move count. It does display them on the timer and move counter. Take note of these if you want to try a different strategy when you replay a level.
- Interface
- The playing field occupies most of the screen to the left.
- In a narrow strip to the right are the following:
- The directional buttons: These are found on the lower right corner. Left click or tap on these to move.
- Above it are two buttons:
- The reset button starts the game all over again.
- The home button brings you back to the welcome screen.
- The move counter: This shows you how many moves it took to solve the puzzle.
- The timer: Located on the top right corner, this shows you how long you’ve been working on the puzzle.
- Level selection
- Levels are unlocked in sequence. You must solve the first level to unlock the second, and so on.
- The first level acts as a tutorial. It gets harder from there.
- You can replay all the levels you’ve unlocked by choosing the level selection option on the welcome screen.
- Tips
- Watch your step. If you move just one thing out of place, you could find yourself with an unsolvable puzzle.
- Reconsider the obvious solution.
- Sometimes, putting a box in too early or in the wrong place will make it impossible to place in others.
- Pay attention to the space you need to move the boxes. These will help you determine the right box placement.
- Ensure that you and the boxes have open paths available.
- Blocking your way out can make the game unwinnable.
- Sometimes, you must push the boxes away toward a more open area to make them easier to move.
- Move the boxes in a way that wins you more open areas to push the other boxes.
- If you do find yourself out of options, select the reset button and try again. Trial and error will be a key tool in your arsenal.
