Sokoboom Sokoban Game for Kids Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Select Play on the right side of the welcome screen to begin.
  • Toggle the game’s audio by selecting the sound button on the upper right corner.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress and star ratings.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Use the arrow keys to move your character.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap and swipe at the screen with your fingers to move your character.
• Game Play
  • Level selection
    • Levels are unlocked in sequence. Only the first level is available at first.
    • You can replay the levels you’ve unlocked anytime you want. See if you can improve on your previous performance.
  • Basics
    • Your goal is to move the box to the x mark on the ground.
      • Your player character can only move in empty squares.
      • To move the box, stand near it on the opposite side of where you want it to go. The box will move in the direction you push it.
        • You can only move a box to a blank space.
        • A box in a corner is effectively stuck
        • You can only push boxes, not pull them.
      • Once you’ve moved all the boxes to their correct spots, move to the door that appears somewhere in the level.
      • When you move to the door, you’ve cleared the level.
    • This version of the game allows you to move only 220 times.
      • The more you move, the lower your star rating will be.
      • If you use up all 220 moves, you fail the level.
      • Replay the level to work out a solution that earns you a higher star rating.
    • If you’re ever stuck, hit the reset button on the upper left corner to start all over.
    • Use the menu button on the upper left corner to return to the level selection screen.
  • Scoring
    • Your star rating for the level depends on the number of moves you make while solving the puzzle.
    • You get the highest rating for solving the puzzle in the lowest time.
    • See your move count at the upper right corner of the screen.
    • The amount of stars you’ve earned throughout your playthrough can be seen on the upper right corner of the level selection screen.
  • Refining your strategy
    • Often, you can only start improving your strategy once you’ve played through a level several times.
      • Memorize where the boxes should go and where the exit is.
      • See if there are alternate ways of solving the puzzle.
      • Move carefully to cut back on unnecessary moves.
    • Consider the following:
      • What is the best order to move the boxes? Which box should you solve first to reduce backtracking?
      • How close can you get to the exit once you pushed all the boxes?
