How to Play

Set your shot angle then alternate turns with the computer trying to sink each other’s ships.

  • Starting the Game
    • Watch the opening animation until it completes or click on the “Continue” button at the bottom of the screen to bring up the game’s overview screen.
    • The overview screen offers buttons to begin your fight, watch the game trailer again, or read gameplay instructions. Click the “Fight!” button to start the battle.
      • This will bring up the character select screen where you can choose which pirate you want to play. Playing the pink one, Luxamillion, is slightly easier than playing the green one, Trunkford.
      • After choosing your character it will bring up the level select screen. Each level must be beaten to unlock the subsequent levels.
        • Level 1: Isle of Coconuts
        • Level 2: Spout Belly Bay
        • Level 3: Fire N’ Goats
  • Game Controls
    • Across the top of the screen it shows Luxamillion’s score & how many times Luxamillion has been hit, a left or right wind meter, and a pie graph showing how much time you have left to make your shot that round, and then Trunkford’s score and how many times he has been hit.
    • The game has a pause button in the lower left corner and a sound control button in the lower right corner. If you press the pause button it will bring up a menu offering the following options: resume, restart, levels, and quit.
    • At the end of each level there are buttons for selecting next battle, levels menu, replaying current level, or quitting the game.
    • Mouse
      • Set your cursor on the screen to aim your shot.
      • Hold in the left click button on your mouse to charge your cannon and release to fire.
    • Touchscreen
      • Use your finger like a mouse.
  • Scoring Points
    • Score points each time your shot hits the opposing ship.
    • Collect more points by having your ball hit coins on the playing field or destroying other objects in the playing field like the clouds or trees by hitting them.
  • Strategy
    • Avoid own goals!
      • Your cannonballs can hit off of objects in the playing field like the clouds or sun.
      • You can hit your own ship with your own cannonball. If you are trying to shoot for points make sure the angle is sufficient that the shot does not bounce back on your boat.
    • Wait your turn.
      • Sometimes cannon balls can get stuck on the island. If you press to charge your cannon before your turn begins then you may release at the wrong point, so it is best to wait until the label stating it is your turn appears at the bottom center of the screen before aiming and charging your cannon.
    • Don’t lose your turn.
      • There is a timer at the top center of the screen which shows how much time you have left to shoot.
      • If you need to take a break use the pause button in the lower left corner.
    • Take advantage of level designs.
      • Each level has advantages built into it for Luxamillion (the pink & allegedly “good” pirate) over Trunkford (the green & allegedly “bad” pirate).
        • On the first level the treasure chest is slightly on your side of the island, so it is easier for Trunkford’s shot to get stuck on it.
        • On the second level if you hit the whale in the back the cannonball will often roll forward and onto Trunkford’s ship, whereas when the shot goes in the opposite direction sometimes the tail will catch it. Also sometimes the whale’s blowhole will cause the shots from Trunkford to hit a cloud and bounce back onto his ship.
        • On the third level there is a secret passage between the two volcanoes where the ball rolls down and lands on Trunkford’s ship.
        • If you are Trunkford the above work against you rather than for you.
    • At the top of the screen there is a wind meter which shows what way the wind is blowing and how strong. Adjust your shot accordingly.
    • Do what works!
      • In some cases it can be easy to bounce shots off of parts of the sky and onto your competitor’s ship. If something works keep doing it until it stops.
      • Likewise, if the level is cleared out enough that a straight shot works remember how long you held the shot for & keep the angle the same making the same shot again or only adjusting slightly for changes in wind.
