Breakout Bricks Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game

• Game Play
  • Level selection
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially. Only the first level is playable at the start of the game.
    • Finishing one level automatically unlocks the next one.
    • You can replay any of the levels you’ve unlocked.
  • Basic rules
    • Destroy the stack of bricks on top of the
    • Use the paddle to guide the ball toward the stack of bricks.
  • Lives
    • You only have 3 lives, represented by a heart on the top center of the screen.
    • You automatically start every level with a full list of lives.
    • If you lose all 3 lives, the game ends.
    • You can collect falling hearts to replenish your lives.
  • Scoring
    • Values
      • Each solid brick will net you 5 points each time you hit it. It takes 2 hits to take them out. The same applies for shorter bricks, which go down in a single shot.
      • Shiny bricks will not yield any points, but go down in a single hit.
      • Stars provide 50 points.
    • Cumulative
      • Your score is cumulative across a single playthrough. If you play a level again, you clear your previous scores and start from 0.
      • The same applies when you load the game again. The score resets to 0 even when start playing where you last left off.
  • Falling collectibles
    • Besides falling hearts, you also gain various bonuses and power ups that fall down.
    • Move the paddle to collect the power ups as they fall.
    • Most of the falling collectibles are score bonuses that provide extra points.
      • The number of points they provide are indicated on them.
      • Stars automatically provide 50 points.
    • Power ups provide special bonuses that are normally active for a brief time. These include the following effects:
      • Up to 2 extra balls
        • You need only to keep one in play. You can lose them and still not lose a life.
        • If you take any other power up while extra balls are in play, they will gain the effects of it as well.
      • The ability to shoot from the paddle
      • Fire ball
        • This makes your ball go faster and burn through all bricks in one hit.
        • The fire ball can be hard to control.
      • Accelerated ball
        • The ball glows green and moves faster.
        • Each time you catch it with the paddle, you can launch it again instead of bouncing off it.
      • Ball speed
        • These can make your ball go faster or slower.
        • Faster balls bounce around quicker but are harder to control.
        • Slower balls can grind the game down, but catching and controlling will not be as difficult.
      • Increase or decrease paddle length
  • Tips
    • Try to get the ball to stay up where it can do most of the work.
    • Focus on keeping the ball bouncing. Do not sacrifice a bonus or power up for the ball.
    • If you can, make sure to have your ball hit the sides of the paddle so you can direct it to a specific location better.
