Castle Defense Game for Kids Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Select one of the 7 languages on the game loading screen.
  • Select the play button with 2 crossing swords on the game welcome screen to start the game.
    • This will bring up the game select screen. You can choose to create one of three game profiles or continue from an existing profile you previously created.
    • New profiles can be assigned to any of these characters: Severidric, Yreran, Nrith, and Gendra.
    • Within a game you can click the button in the bottom right corner to begin the next stage.
    • There are also buttons to upgrade your fighting skills, equip inventory, or power up the magic tower.
      • If you go into any of the upgrades submenus click the button in the lower left corner to return to the main play menu and then click the red and gray button in the lower right corner to start the level.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
  • The welcome screen also has 2 other buttons to control game sounds and read game information.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Use your mouse to aim and left click to fire on incoming enemies. You can repeatedly tap your left click button, or press it in and hold it.
    • After activating spell or item upgrades click on the associated buttons to use them.
  • Touchscreen Devices
    • Tap the screen with your finger to shoot at incoming enemies.
    • Tap on buttons to use spells or items.
  • Control Buttons
    • Your magic powers appear as buttons in the lower left of the screen after you have powered up the magic tower.
    • When you use magic it takes time for your mana to restore & it takes time for each individual spell to recharge.
• Game Play
  • Indicators
    • Across the top of the screen it shows your health, magic, and savings.
  • Levels / Rounds
    • Across the right side of the screen it shows you how far you have made it through the current level.
    • At the end of each level you can be awarded currency for beating the level and how much health you have remaining.
      • Each level is worth a greater award amount to compensate for upgrade costs rising as you progress through the game.
      • Even if you lose the level you still are awarded some currency for the stage while your health would be zero.
      • You can replay a level an unlimited number of times.
  • Power Ups
    • Upgrades
      • Strength – increases the basic damage caused against the enemy.
      • Health – increases the energy of the rampart.
      • Agility – increases the speed of shooting.
      • Critical – increases the chance to cause double damage.
      • Knockback – increases the chance of the shots to slow down the enemies.
    • Inventory
      • Equip wizard staffs and wizard robes.
      • As you progress through levels you are awarded staffs and robes at various level numbers.
        • Wizard staff unlocks: levels 10, 30, 50, 70, 90 & 100.
        • Magic robe unlocks: levels 10, 20, 40, 50, 60, 80 & 100.
        • Each time you beat a level ending in 9 be sure to equip the newer higher power wizard staff and/or robe.
    • Magic Tower
      • Upgrade magic tower to unlock spells and gives you more mana so that you can use more powerful magic attacks and have enough magic power remaining to do combinations.
      • Your mana restores slowly after each magic use & each type of magic has a cooldown period in between uses.
      • You can upgrade to more powerful spells as you upgrade the castle. By the time you upgrade it to level 10 you have 3 of the 4 spell upgrades done and the final spell is at level 15. You can upgrade the castle beyond level 15 to increase your core mana power, which enables you to recast spells faster.
    • When you are done with a particular power up menu click the button in the lower left corner to go back to the main menu.
  • Strategy
    • General Attack Advice
      • If enemies are not yet in the screen keep shooting back and forth so you hit them as they enter.
      • If you have the double spreadshot enabled ensure both dots are hitting enemies.
      • If the screen is somewhat overwhelmed with enemies sometimes it makes sense to focus on one side for a while so that it is clear and you can focus on the other side for an extended period of time.
      • If many of the enemies with range attack enter the screen be willing to use magic quickly because they shoot after they get about 60% of the way to you and they can keep firing shots at you even if other enemies are in front of them & preventing you from being able to hit them back.
    • If you play on a mobile device it is far easier to select the magic tower magical power buttons than on desktop.
      • If playing on desktop you have to use those features early on in an enemy saturation so that you have time to recover shooting any that the magic missed.
      • It is best to use the green magic when there is a wall of enemies just entering the screen.
      • I like to use the green poison and the fireballs in combination then go back to shooting incoming enemies.
    • What to Upgrade First
      • The most important attribute to update is your shot strength so you can kill many enemies with a single hit.
      • The next most important item to upgrade is your agility so you can shoot quickly.
      • Defense is less important than offense since you ultimately should want to kill most of the enemies before they get close to the castle.
