How to Play
Dig around to find fossils. Collect gems to power up & listen to advice from troglobites on where fossils are located.
- Starting the Game
- On the welcome screen, select the button on the lower right corner to start the game.

- Using your mouse, left click on the buttons to navigate or select fossils after you’ve found them.
- Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate through the underground. You can also use the mouse to move, but it is not as granular of a control and can be a bit frustrating.

- Basic
- Collect fossils before your drill wears out.
- Collect minerals to strengthen your drill.
- Get hints from cave-dwelling animals (troglobites).
- The conductor will tell you about random facts about the fossils throughout the game.
- Digging
- You only have a limited time to dig before the drill train’s mechanisms wear out.
- Look at the meter on the upper left corner to see how worn your drill is.
- Alternately, you can examine the state of your drill by looking at it.
- Compacted earth will wear out your drill faster.
- Collect minerals to strengthen your drill. This will help you keep digging for longer.
- The blue minerals provide a lot of power while the red minerals provide a smaller boost.
- If your energy is almost full keep digging around for a while & do not grab the blue minerals until you are at around half power or less so you do not waste them as you can’t power up more than 100%.
- Avoid unnecessary digging whenever you can.
- Pay attention to the Fossil-o-meter to avoid digging in dead ends.
- When backtracking, turn around and follow the paths you’ve excavated as much as you can.
- Searching for fossils
- Each level has a specific number of fossils to find.
- The Fossil-o-meter on the upper right corner glows whenever you are near a fossil, with it glowing brighter the closer you are.
- Below the Fossil-o-meter is the number of fossils you need to find to clear the level.
- Besides the Fossil-o-meter, you can also ask troglobites for help.
- They will pointy to the direction of fossils.
- However, their arrows will fade over time, so act quickly.
- Dig toward the direction of the fossils closest to the troglobite.
- Some fossils are large enough that you can spot them as larger chunks of earth.
- Once you found all the fossils, you’ve cleared the level.

- Fossils in this game are distributed in three layers, representing different points in time.
- Much like in real life, the lower down the fossil is found, the older it is.

- Upper layer
- Egg
- Fish
- “Giant dragonfly” (Meganeura)
- Horsetail plant
- Tree branch
- Middle layer
- Lower layer
- All of the species featured in this game existed before the dinosaurs appeared.
- To learn more about the fossils you’ve uncovered, select them at the end of the level before proceeding to the next one.
