- This will begin a tutorial slideshow explaining the game’s basic controls.
- At the end of the slideshow, click on the start button to begin in earnest.
- Your web browser automatically saves your high score.
- Game Controls
- Keep Bananaman aloft by using the following controls:
- Desktop
- Left click on the mouse or tap the space bar on the keyboard
- Mobile
- Tap the screen with your fingers.
- Bananaman automatically goes forward.
- Game Play
- Keep Bananaman flying while avoiding obstacles.
- Bananas and lives
- Bananaman starts the game with 3 lives.
- These are represented by hearts on the upper right corner of the screen.
- The lives work more like hit points. Each time you hit something
- When you run out of lives, it’s game over.
- When you fall, it’s game over regardless of how many lives you still have.
- The secret to Bananaman’s power is, of course, bananas. Collect bananas to replenish your lives.
- You gain an extra life every time you collect 10 bananas.
- You lose all your bananas if you hit anything.
- Hitting one obstacle will cause you to be briefly invulnerable to other obstacles, but this doesn’t last long.
- Obstacles
- In the game, you will encounter both moving and stationary obstacles.
- Stationary obstacles include the ceiling, floating rock platforms, craters, and turrets.
- They do not move up or down and stay in place. Try to fly beneath or above them.
- Some stationary obstacles have moving parts (turret guns, aliens in craters, etc).
- Moving obstacles include hostile aliens and space junk.
- They move up and down, which means you must try to predict their movements when dodging them.
- Power ups
- Seize the floating power ups as you find them.
- You can collect three types of power ups:
- Banana cannon: Destroys all obstacles in your path
- Clock: Slows down movement for a limited time and lets you dodge enemies and junk better
- Banana peel: Protects you from incoming obstacles.
- Scoring
- Despite what the game says, you never actually catch General Blight. Your score depends on the time you spent chasing him.
- Target Audience
- This game is suited for all ages and for young and old fans of the Beano comic.
- This game has no adult themes.
