• Starting the Game

  • Level selection

      • You must attack your opponents with water guns or water balloons to prevent them from getting close to your flags.
      • Your opponents must be completely defeated to stop them from taking your flag.
        • Only when your opponent is knocked down can you retrieve your flag.
        • When you are carrying the flag, you are unable to attack.
      • Avoid getting attacked by your enemies.
    • Health
      • Each time you get attacked, you lose health.
        • These appear as a meter that hovers above the character.
        • You can lose hit points from both enemies and level hazards.
        • Level hazards become more frequent in later levels.
      • The only way to defend against getting hit is by dodging attacks.
      • If you lose all your health, you must return to your base. The same goes for any of your teammates or your opponents.
      • Over time, you gradually recover your lost health
  • Level effects
    • Levels can have hazards and effects that can complicate gameplay.
      • Some hazards are stationary. You can plan your movements around them.
        • Lava floor:
          • Fall into it and you lose all your health.
        • Water pipes:
          • Get doused by the pipe and you lose health.
        • Stink bomb mines
          • Step on them and they release a gas that lowers your health when you are in the immediate vicinity.
      • Mobile hazards can cause you to lose health. Avoiding them will interfere with your evasive maneuvers.

        • Spinning wheels
    • In cardboard levels, shooting at rickety platforms can cause them to buckle. These platforms will collapse, but will eventually be replaced.
  • Teams
    • Team selection
      • Besides Craig, you also play with 2 teammates.
        • They are controlled by a cooperative AI and work independently of you.
        • You can rely on these teammates to protect you.
        • They will also capture the flag for your team.
      • At the start of the game, you only have 2 available teammates.
        • You gain new teammate options after winning some levels.
        • In some levels, you must replay specific areas on the map, which makes teammates you previously unlocked unplayable for that level.

  • Candies and store
    • You earn candies from winning games.
      • Winning the level gains you 50 candies.
      • You get 20 candies for every flag you (personally) captured. Flags captured by teammates don’t count.
      • You get 20 candies for every opponent you take down.
        • It is far easier to earn a high score by picking off many opponents and letting your teammates focus on capturing the opponent’s flag.
    • Candies can be traded for upgrades at the store.
    • You always start a new level at the store.
      • The first thing you can buy at the store is weapons. There are 4 weapons to choose from.
        • 3 different water guns.
        • Water balloons, which cost 100.
        • Your default water gun is free. The two other water guns cost 50 & 150.
        • The water gun which costs 150 is almost like a machine gun, making it easy to do a lot of damage to enemies quickly.
      • You can also buy upgrades to your game stats:
        • Speed
        • Health
        • Jump height
        • Damage
        • These upgrades cost 50 each.
      • After each level you go back to your default gun and baseline stats.
        • You must buy these upgrades again after each level to re-equip them.
        • Since early levels are easy it may make sense to save up until you lose a match before buying any upgrades so that you have many coins when you really need them.
  • Strategy
    • Choose between an offensive and defensive strategy to maximize your coin count
      • Offensive play has you take as many flags from opponents yourself.
        • Rely on your teammates to protect you.
        • Take down your opponents only when you’re on your way there.
      • Defensive play, meanwhile, puts the burden of taking the flag on your teammates.
        • Your job, instead, is to take out as many opponents that try to take your flag from the relative safety of your base.
        • Use heavy-hitting weapons to mow down your opponents as they try to flee.
        • Prevent your enemies from scoring by taking them out before or shortly after they take your flag.
    • There’s a time and place for each strategy, and it depends heavily on how well you perform at a specific level.
      • Defensive strategies favor high-damage weapons that are pricey.
      • When you’re short on dough, you must play on the offensive.
