• Starting the Game

  • Level Selection
    • The game has 3 worlds and 30 levels.
      • Each game world has 10 levels.
      • The worlds are as follows:
        • Green hills
        • Volcanic wasteland
        • Caverns
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
      • At the start, only one level is playable.
      • You can replay all the levels you’ve previously unlocked.
  • Basics
    • Reach the end of the level to clear it.
    • Attack enemies by hitting the blast button or pressing the x key.
    • Gain points by defeating monsters and collecting coins, stars, and other treasures.
  • Navigating the level
    • To navigate, jump up and down various platforms.
    • Some platforms consist of boxes that, when hit, provide coins.
    • Platforms often act as branching routes.
      • Some platforms are only accessible if you climbed up a series of platforms from an earlier point in a level.
      • To collect everything in a level, you’ll often need to backtrack.
  • Death, enemies and hazards
    • Death
      • You can die in one of two ways:
        • Falling off a chasm, which is instant death.
        • Get hit by enemies 3 times.
      • Each time you die, you’re given the option to try again. Choosing yes will start the level all over again.
      • If you die, all the points you’ve accrued for that level will be lost.
      • You have infinite lives. Try again as often as you can.
    • Heart points
      • You have 3 heart points to withstand enemy contact.
      • Lose all 3 and it’s game over.
      • View your heart points next to your character’s portrait at the top left corner of the screen.
      • There are a few hearts scattered across the level. Collect them to replenish your heart points.
    • Enemies
      • Enemies are scattered throughout the level.
      • If you touch them, you lose a heart point.
      • To defeat them, you can do one of the following things.
        • Stomp on them.
        • Blast them with magic.
      • Each type of enemy move a certain way. Take account of their movements when planning your next move.
        • You don’t need to defeat all the enemies to clear the level, and dodging them is a good strategy.
        • However, enemies are worth points, which makes it worthwhile to try to attack them.
  • Attacks
    • You only have a limited amount of magic to cast spells
      • At the start of each game, you have 15 attacks.
      • View the amount of attacks you have on the top center of the screen.
      • Collect magic to replenish your attacks.
    • Your attack also has a limited range. Get as close to your enemy as safely possible before attacking them.
  • Collectibles
    • Collect coins to earn points for the level.
    • Coins can be found either lying around the level or hidden in platform boxes.
      • To collect coins out in the open, walk toward them.
      • Collect coins from platform boxes by bumping on them.
        • Some platform boxes will yield 1 coin. Others can be hit up to 5 times.
        • You can hit 2 adjacent platform boxes at once.
        • You can also hit them with magic, but this rarely happens.
        • When platform boxes run out of coins, they turn from yellow to brown.
  • Scoring
    • The more items you collect and the more enemies you defeat, the higher your score.
    • Score values:
      • Yellow coins are worth 325 points each.
      • Blue coins are worth 2,500 points each
      • Enemies are worth 1,000 points each.
      • Stars are worth 10,000 points each.
    • Your browser saves your best scores and star ratings for each level.
      • Your best score is independent of your star rating. You can collect all 3 stars and have a low high score.
      • That said, the point boost given by all 3 stars is vital to earning the highest possible scores in a level.
  • Tips
    • Be prepared to backtrack to gain the highest possible score in the level.
    • Consider stomping your enemies rather than using your magic whenever possible.
