- Matching stones
- You can connect any of the following:
- 2 directly adjacent identical stones
- 2 identical stones which can be connected with a straight line that does not pass through any other stones
- 2 identical stones which can be connected with a line that turns 90 degrees once or twice while also not passing through any other stones
- Each time you match stones it adds a bit more time to the remaining time meter.
- When no valid moves remain the tiles will reshuffle.
- Conversely this means that if the tiles did not shuffle there is still a valid move available.
- Automated reshuffling does not cost you any points nor a shuffle credit.
- Play tips
- The easiest tiles to match are corner tiles, since they can match across or vertically.
- The next easiest tiles to match are other edge pieces, then center pieces.
- It is best to try to create gaps between columns or rows so that almost every tile which is shown is open & can be matched.
- When matching tiles it can be helpful to focus on a particular type or feature set.
- Match tiles that have dots, match tiles with Chinese characters, match tiles which have lines on them.
- By focusing on one tile type at a time it makes it easier to quickly find matches.
- Tile movement / filling
- Many Mahjong Connect games have the tiles fill in one direction or another as gaps are created in the playing field.
- This game moves tiles to fill in gaps on some levels, while leaving gaps on other levels.
- When levels fill in it is best to make matches on the far side of the level first & make matches at the edge of the direction tiles are filling in later.
- When levels do not fill in you can create vertical and horizontal empty rows and columns throughout the level to open up more moves.
- Levels
- This game has 12 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
- Card tiles are arranged in a 16×7 grid of 112 tiles or 56 pair.
- Some levels fill tiles in a particular direction while others do not.
- Tiles can fill up, down, left, or right.
- Tiles can also fill in such a way that spits the board in half, with either the top half filling upward & the bottom half moving down, or the left half filling left while the right half fills right.
