Beating the break
Each time you stay still, you inch ever closer to the break. Keep moving to keep ahead of the break.
Watch out for obstacles.
If the obstacle is some distance away, move back and forth until it’s close.
Stay in a single lane only until you’ve cleared the obstacle.
Most obstacles will either occupy 2 lanes or the center lane. In the rare chance that it occupies only one lane, take advantage of the two free lanes and move back and forth between them.
Sometimes, you might need to stay in place to reach a ramp or collect coins.
Try not to wait too long. Staying still may not be worth the bonus.
If the coins or ramp are still far off, consider moving back and forth until you’re closer to them.
Collecting coins
Coin collecting is a great incentive to keep moving.
Move toward the rows with the coins.
Reconsider staying too long in a single lane to collect coins.
You might need to jump to get some coins.
Shaka bras
Jumping over birds and other obstacles nets you a large point bonus in the form of a shaka bra.
Shaka bras from birds and floating rats.
You can successfully jump over birds or floating rats if they fly low.
If it flies high, you will likely hit the bird or rat and wipe out.
Let the bird or rat fly past you if it’s flying high.
Switch a lane and you avoid the bird or rat altogether, which does not net you any bonus at all.
Jumping over aquatic obstacles
Use a ramp to jump over aquatic obstacles (crocodiles, unicorns, fish, sharks, etc.)
You receive no points from dodging them.
You can only jump over them with a ramp.
Scoring
The higher your score, the better your end-game rating.
To earn points, collect coins and earn shaka bras.
It’s often better to earn shaka bras as they have a much higher point values.
Your rating is measured in different surfboards. The lowest rank is an ordinary surfboard, while the higher ranks are represented by bronze, silver, and gold surfboards, respectively.
This ranking is independent of whether you actually win in either mode of the game.
