Paper Boats Racing Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Left click or tap anywhere to load the welcome screen.
  • On the welcome screen, select Start to begin.
  • On the top right corner of the welcome screen are the following options:
    • Select the enlarge button to switch between windowed and full screen modes.
    • Select the speaker button to turn the game’s audio on or off.
    • Select the music button to turn the game’s music on or off.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
    • Select Hold here to reset all data to clear your previous progress. You cannot undo this.

    • With your keyboard, use the W, A, S, and D keys or the arrow keys to move.
      • Turn left by pressing A or the left arrow key.

  • Setting up
    • Select a color for your boat using the option found on the bottom center of the level selection screen.

  • Basic rules
    • Move the boat around the course and outmaneuver the other boats.
    • Collect energy power ups to give your boat a brief boost in speed.
    • Finish all laps of the race.
    • Reach the finish line before all the other boats to win at the last lap to win.
  • Levels
    • Levels are unlocked in sequence.
      • You begin with only the first level playable.
      • Finish one level to unlock the next.
    • There are 10 levels in this game.
      • Each course has a unique layout.
      • You have to finish between 2 to 5 laps on each course.
      • You can replay any of the levels you’ve unlocked.
  • Tips
    • As much as possible try to avoid contact with other boats.
      • If one boat bumps you that can slow you down, then have the next boat come up and bump you, and the process can repeat until you are in last place.
      • When you make contact other boats try to do so on the inside line of a turn so their efforts to hit you only propel you forward.
    • Many tracks have multiple branch options where you can go left or right.
      • When you are early in the course if you are far back in the pack it usually makes sense to take the path with fewer boats on it.
      • When you are further into the race and are in first or second place it makes sense to take whichever path is shorter & faster.
    • Other speed tips
      • Drafting
        • In some racing games there is a drafting concept where it can make sense to race directly behind a competitor to build up speed.
        • In this game there isn’t much in the way of drafting, so it is better to be at least slightly off center a competitor so that you are less likely to make hard contact.
      • Minimize your exposure with the walls.
        • Take the tightest possible corner lines you can without making much wall contact.
        • You turn rather sharply, so you can be close to the inside corner and still make quite sharp turns without hitting the outer walls.
      • Speed boost
        • The speed booster is valuable when you are not near many enemies, are in front of competing racers, or are on a wide part of the course.
        • If the course is narrow and other opponents are directly in front of you it may not make sense to pick up the speed boost.
        • Only your boat can pick up the speed boost pellets.
