- Each puzzle has specific words you must spell.
- Spelling other words may not allow you to complete the puzzle.
- To get the tiles to fall in the correct order you often need to spell words across or near the bottom first.
- The left side of the playing field shows you how many words you need to make and how many letters are in each.
- For example, on level 7 there are two 4-letter words, two 5-letter words, one 6-letter word, and one 7-letter word.
- As you select tiles it highlights what you have spelled at the top of the left section.
- When the tiles you have used are played those words are filled in on the left side of the screen, with the remaining portion of the puzzle blank.
- Strategy
- Many words in the game are food, beach, ocean, or SpongeBob related – like names of characters from the animated series.
- If there is a word you are certain belongs but there is one letter out of place look for what other tiles need to move for that letter to fall into place.
- This can help you spell other words which are part of the puzzle that you did not notice or could not see at first glance.
- In some cases when you spell some words it does not only lead to tiles falling downward, but sometimes the stack appears in another vertical location instead.
- Consider singular versus plural.
- If you see the word “friends” but it does not work perhaps it is the word “friend” you make and then the s is used as part of another word.
- When in doubt, there is a hints button in the lower right corner you can click for a clue.
- If you spell a word which is a legitimate word but is not used in the puzzle it powers up your hint meter.
- You can even spell 3-letter words when there are none in the puzzle results just to add to your hints count.
- If you know the word you want to spell is “scary” you can first spell car then scar before scary to power up your hints feature twice.
- Clicking the hint meter reveals a letter in one of the words you have not yet spelled along with where that letter is in the word.
- Levels are not timed, so this game is quite relaxing.
- Audience
- This game is perhaps a bit challenging for younger children with a limited vocabulary, but would be great fun to anyone who is a fan of SpongeBob and who has a bit of knowledge of the English language.
- There is no adult imagery in the game. The closest things come to being adult oriented is versions of the word poop in the game.
