- Click anywhere on the welcome screen to start the game.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
- Game Controls
- Desktop
- This game makes extensive use of the mouse left click button.
- During battles you can select any one of the four characters to have them battle for you on that round (or you can choose to run by clicking the icon to the right of the 4 character icons).
- When you have chose who you want to attack you can use their weak attack (left), their special skill (center), or their power attack (right).
- Touchscreen devices
- Tap the screen with a finger to use a finger like a mouse.
- Controls & indicators
- The overview map shows which zone you are on.
- The zone map shows how many of the 10 locations in the zone you have beat.
- While in battle the upper left corner of the screen shows enemy health, which sense does the most damage, and how many enemies are in that location.
- The upper right corner of the battle screen contains a sound control button.
- In the lower right of the battle screen there are buttons for the 4 characters & a button to run..
- At the bottom center there are 3 buttons for weak attack, special skill & strong attack. The weak attack & strong attack have an icon in the lower right of them showing which sense they attack.
- Game Play
- Characters & upgrades
- After each battle you win an upgrade point. Upgrade points can be used to unlock other character costumes, upgrade attacks, unlock special features & upgrade those.
- Character abilities upgrades
- SpongeBob SquarePants cooks patties, which restores health.
- Patrick hides under a rock.
- Sandy has a science upgrade, which enables you to add a second weakness to monsters.
- Squidward has a dance upgrade which enables character abilities to become ready faster.
- Ability upgrades
- Of the ability upgrades the most important one to do early is the science upgrade, as it allows you to hit your opponent with strong attacks in its areas of weakness no matter which category it is in, by adding a second category.
- The next most important upgrade is cooking patties, which enables you to restore health if your health gets low.
- The dance upgrade can also restore a bit of health.
- You may only use ability upgrades once or twice per battle at most, so it is important to upgrade your core character outfit for each character fully before upgrading the abilities beyond the initial unlocks.
- Character outfit & attack upgrades
- When upgrading each character on your crew try to pick which outfit you want that character to use & then keep upgrading that outfit and the character’s special skills before unlocking additional outfits for that character and upgrading those.
- You can only equip one outfit for each character for each round, so it makes sense to fully power up that version of the character rather than to have many weaker options to choose from which are not even in the battle.
- I like to fight with two vision characters, a smell character, and a sound character. You have 4 characters total, so one of the three senses will be represented twice, and it seemed more enemies were vision based than smell or sound.
- Doodle SpongeBob is unlocked in the tutorial, so I used him and default Patrick.
- I used Hibernating Sandy (which has a powerful morning breath smell attack) and the default Squidward (which ahs a powerful clarinet lessons music attack).
- Enemies
- Each stop on a map has a round where you can face 1, 2 or 3 enemies.
- Boss battles are solo, but other locations can have multiple rounds of enemies you face in sequential order.
- Each enemy has one of the three senses is it more prone to take higher damage from.
- The upper left corner of the screen shows the health bar of your opponent, what sense does the most damage to them, and under their health bar is a monster icon or set of monster icons indicating how many enemies you will face.
- Enemy attacks
- Enemies can do a variety of attacks.
- A regular attack which consumes some Krabby Patties
- Attack which also prevents one of your players from making a move for a turn or two (while your other characters can still make moves)
- Attack which hits your health and restores their own energy
- Fall asleep and do nothing
- Indicate they are immune to certain types of attacks
- If they are immune to all attack types then it is a good time for you to bide your time and restore your Krabby Patties or hide on your turns
- Zones
- This game has 6 zones on the island, with each zone having 10 locations you pass through including a boss battle at the end.
- The zone names are Sandy Shore, Creeping Jungle, Rushing Riverway, Winding Cavern, Path of Boulders & Mount Molten.
- Battle strategy
- It is generally best to use your most powerful attack available which uses the sense the monster takes the most damage from.
- The powerful attacks take multiple turns to recharge, so using them early gives you more opportunities to use them.
- Power attacks can take two or three turns to recharge.
- If a monster has limited health left and there are other rounds of enemies in that location then you may want to only do a regular attack so your power attacks remain charged up for the next opponent.
- If the monster is the last enemy in a wave it can make sense to use a power attack of the wrong type on them since your attacks and health refill before each zone location.
- If you get down to 2 or fewer Krabby Patties it can make sense to restore them.
- If the monster’s primary damage is a sense other than vision you may want to use that power attack type right away then use Sandy’s science to give the monster a second weak sense.
- Beating the game
- After you beat the game you deliver the Krabby Patties to Octavius Rex.
- You then can play the game again with all your level progress erased, but you maintain all your experience points and upgrades.
- Target Audience
- The game is suited for gamers of all age who like SpongeBob SquarePants or simple roll playing games.
- The game has no adult themed content.
