• Starting the Game

  • Connecting stones
    • Identical
      • Stone pair matches must be identical.
      • A bunny with a smiling face must be matched with a bunny with a smiling face.
        • The non-animal tiles are easier to match as they are more visually distinct.
        • When matching animal tiles you need to look at every aspect of the face including the mouth, eyes, ears, and the direction it is facing.
      • Stages feature different animals.
        • The first stage features a bunny rabbit.
        • The second stage features a brown bear.
        • The third stage features pigs.
        • The fourth stage goes back to the bunny rabbit once again & this pattern repeats throughout the game.
    • Connecting lines
      • You may connect adjacent stones or stones which are connected with a line that does not pass through any other stones. That line must fit either of the following conditions:
        • A straight vertical or horizontal line.
        • A line which turns at 90 degrees no more than twice.
    • Tile filling
      • Many Mahjong Connect games have boards which fill in one direction or another as you remove stones.
      • This game does not fill in any direction.
  • Levels
    • This game has 10 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels to try to earn a higher score on them.
    • Time limits
      • The first level offers you a 5 minute time limit.
      • Each subsequent level offers a 10 second shorter time limit.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You beat each stage by removing all stones from the board before the timer reaches zero.
      • If you lose a level you can choose to submit your game score or try again.
        • If you select the end game button so you can submit your game score that erases your game progress.
        • You can retry levels an unlimited number of times so long as you do not select the end game button.
  • Scoring
    • Your game score is cumulative across levels.
    • Scoring points
      • Each pair you match is worth 50 points.
      • Each second you have remaining when you beat a level is worth 30 points.
    • Spending points
      • Across the bottom of the screen there is a green meter which charges up overt time.
      • Clicking it highlights a matching pair of stones, but using it costs 100 points.
  • Strategy
    • Since the other stones are more visually distinct than the animal stones it makes sense to try to move many of the other stones first.
    • When you remove animal stones try to focus on one aspect at a time (e.g. large teeth, tongue hanging out, bright eyes, runny nose, etc.) so that it is easier to match them.
    • The easiest stones to match are those in the corners since they can match in either direction & then the stones along the edges of the board are the next easiest stones to remove.
