Pusshu-Ya Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • Select the play button in the center of the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
  • The welcome screen has a sound control button in the upper right corner.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Use your mouse left click button to select a box to move it in the direction of the arrow on top of it.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap a box on the screen with a finger to move it.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The upper left corner of the screen shows your current level number.
    • The upper right corner of the screen has buttons for restarting the current level, going back to the welcome screen, and controlling game sound.
    • The level select screen and game welcome screen show how many levels you have unlocked.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • The goal of the game is to get each colored square onto a square with a star of the same color on it.
    • Movement
      • Each box moves one square at a time in the direction of the arrow on its face.
      • Some levels have warps in them & arrows which change the direction of a box inside them, but the playing field does not wrap.
        • You can’t move a square at the bottom to the top unless it is facing upward.
        • When a square is in a corner it can not be moved unless the arrow on its face is pointing out toward the rest of the board.
    • Pushing
      • You can use boxes to push other boxes, though you can only push one additional box at a time.
      • If there is a stack of 2 consecutive boxes you can’t push that stack with a third box.
  • Features
    • In addition to boxes moving around the level & being able to push each other this game has many other unique features.
    • Gray arrows – change the direction one of your boxes moves when it runs over the gray arrow.
      • When the gray arrow is used it is used up and can not be used again on any other boxes.
      • A single box can go over multiple different gray arrows, changing direction each time a gray arrow lends a new direction to it.
    • Warps – some levels have warps in them where you go in one warp and out the other.
      • Any box can go through a warp.
      • You retain your movement arrow orientation when you go through a warp box.
      • Either warp box can serve as the inlet or outlet.
      • You can’t move onto a warp box unless the other warp box is empty.
      • On some levels you can (and must) go through a warp box in one direction, get a gray arrow direction switcher, then go back through the warp box in the other direction.
    • Colored boxes
      • Colored boxes move one square at a time in whichever direction the arrow on their face points.
      • You can also use colored boxes to push other colored boxes.
    • Black boxes
      • Black boxes operate similar to the other colored boxes you use, except they do not need to be placed on a destination square and can not absorb colors.
    • Colored squares
      • Some levels have colored squares on them.
      • When you move a colored box over a colored square it takes the color of that square.
      • You can look at the colors of the stars on the board to know which square you’ll need to change the color of.
    • Colored stars
      • The colored stars indicate where the colored boxes must be placed.
      • Each box must be placed on a star of the same color.
      • When you get a box on a colored star you can still move it again if you need to, provided you have a way to get the box back onto the star again.
  • Levels
    • This game has 40 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You win by getting all colored boxes onto the star squares, with each box being on a square containing a star of the same color.
      • If you move the boxes in the wrong order it may be impossible to beat the level, requiring you to restart it.
  • Strategy
    • Pay special attention to the interplay between boxes. How can box x move box y.
    • In some cases you may need two boxes to push each other in different directions based on running over arrows on the board or after one box passes through a warp.
    • If you get stuck try to work backward figuring out which direction you need to approach a star from.
    • The gray arrows on the board can offer clues, though you are not required to use all black boxes and arrows on the board on every level.

  • The game is suited for players who like Sokoban-inspired logic puzzle games.
